Foundation update-while he was at work, I managed to set 3 of the post bases (2 of which included digging holes

) once he got home, we did 1 1/2 together but there were some serious tree roots in the way. Supposedly, it's up to me to try to get the last two done tomorrow. Sigh, I hope I have energy tomorrow lol
For a sustained energy booster take 12 ozs of milk, add 2 teaspoons of molasses and drink. For this evening you could just use 4-6 ozs of milk and add molasses to taste.

Last night I decided to finally make myself a webpage for the chickens. That meant I needed a 'farm' name. Well, I have always liked one name in particular and everyone else wanted funny takes on the word 'cluck'. Like... Cluck You. Well, I am not 10yrs old and I do not want a funny name for something I think is serious. So, we are now Array of Feathers.

I need to take some really good pics of the birds (ahahaaaaa!) to upload. I have the basics started, but I am no where near done. I'll share when I am.

I pm her!

I can do dorking eggs in spring for sure. I am currently hatching for myself. I posted pics before, but here's another pic or two. The rooster is stunning.

These are the first dorking chicks I hatched from my birds.

I'm trying to figure out how anyone is digging holes for posts!
First use sledge and pick to break away 6 inches of ice and hard snow. Next use Jack hammer to break in to frozen ground. take all dirt in house to thaw for three days. Set post. Replace dirt. Allow to freeze overnight.
Seriously, I don't remember what ground looks like. Snow hasn't even totally melted off my carport!

Chiques...you just gave me a laugh out loud moment. I'm only dreaming of getting holes done and others are actually doing it. I agree with you. If the top layer of dirt isn't a muddy mess by day and a frozen tundra by night, its covered by several inches of rock solid ice and snow. I can't even safely walk out to my garden to put any compost on top of the glacier that is out there.

I finally uploaded a couple of recent videos...

our girls having some spa time after I cleaned the coop recently...in fact, I hadn't even lowered the ramps back down yet but they didn't want to wait, this was before the last remodel (added a roosting shelf and an egging shelf

and a few moments of chick cuteness...

Wingstone -
I haven't looked into field peas to grow, so I am not sure what you have found. I am looking for the basic green ones that are usually in pigeon feeds. They are supposed to be 23% protein. I read that the yellow field peas aren't much different in nutrition.

I got my first turkey egg today!
Sadly, it was froze. Devon chucked it and I wanted to at least see if it was fertile. If it is, the father would be the guy's Narragansetts.
I keep seeing the yellow ones also, may check into that kind,,,,,,,,my ducks really like pea's it would be great to add to the feed

I would love to have a post hole digger... I would have my turkey and chicken runs up in no time. I have all the posts and fence! No will to dig those holes.
Husband for rent, cheaply....he will even go willingly if your gonna feed him.

I must be *** backward......i seem to be the only one who had the farm name first.....wingstone farms has been the name since back when hubby had pigs,,,,he called it that because the place is full of pigeons and sparrows and the fields really do grow stones, he picks up a wagon load every spring.....and you guys thought wingstone was just my username....

This isn't meant to be rude, but what's the big deal about dorkings? What makes them such a hot item?

That rooster is GORGEOUS, MLH.
For me it is to add size and good temperment to meat projects.....both cornish and plymouth rock are known to be a little mean, hoping to bring in something else
