I have the same problem with the busy season.

Not a fan of limas, so I don't know.

Hi there, we grow limas every year, we've done bush and pole. If you are getting lots of beautiful green foliage, but no flowers/pods, I think that means you have too much nitrogen in your soil. Perhaps a soil test kit would help. Chicken poop is extremely high in nitrogen, so if you've worked that into your soil, it could explain things. They also like it very dry once they do start to flower, any rain and even high humidity and the leaves, flowers and pods will start to rot, so make sure you leave plenty of room between plants and between rows. The better the air circulation around each plant the better they will dry.

Might be worth a drive, to check out your chicken set up and get corn! I'm sure I will have something to swap by then. ;)

In planning and planting a garden -- "less is more". Smaller and intensively managed beds (like "square foot gardening") is usually more satisfying for anyone not trying to garden at a commercial level. Once the weeds get ahead of me, I tend to give up, so restraint is my motto this year.

I hope that doesn't apply to chickens because I may already be in way over my head . . .
