I was thinking "Chip-n-dale"....

also have another question, I am needy today,

remember a couple weeks ago when I processed the silkie and took it to work ,, well the buyer of that chicken now wants 2 more....here's the dilemma I quit working with silkies and only have a few left,,,if I do the last 2 roosters than all I have are some crosses..who would of thought a little silkie would have a following..((my silkie boys are not the really small ones though)...

they claim they tasted different, wonder about the crossses.. I never ate any of the pure silkie so I wouldn't know, I have used the bones for stock though and it seemed no different.

Looks great! Good luck! (did you mark her eggs? and can the other hens get to where she is nested?)

Contact your local SPCA... they probably get 'rescued' and abandoned chickens on a rather regular basis and may put you on a list of folks willing to take them. Even if they don't have chickens they would most likely know who in the area has been involved in chicken rescue in the past.

Thanks so much! I have been checking in with them and have taken a few in that people got as chicks and then didn't want once they weren't so cute anymore (at least not to them). I know if I don't find anything there will be some easter discards looking for homes in a month or so.

just read an article on tapping maple trees and it said you can also tap the walnut trees, anyone try this, I have 4 trees and never heard of this,,,,is it to late in the season?? where do I buy the little taps???

we have a neighbor that taps his Maple trees and makes maple syrup and Maple wine (very good btw).He told us last fall that you tap the trees in February to collect the sap. I don't know how long you collect but I think as it warms up and the sap comes back up from the roots is when you get the most from it. Once it's all up, I think it's too late. I don't know anything about walnut but I can imagine that would be really good.
