Anyone in the Meadville or Crawford county area, I have solved my problem lol. Wanted a few Ameraucana's but everywhere was sold out or had a minimum purchase of 15. Dear Hubby would allow that. The Agway in Edinboro allows you to place an order of as few as you would like! So I will have 4 chicks coming in next week!

They are probably going to be Easter Eggers. Usually, if you buy from the feed store or hatchery they are not really Ameraucana. They still will be pretty birds. http://www.ameraucana.org/faq.html

LMP:

Mine is purple and is very nice...its an older bush...probably original to when the house was built...I made a mistake and pruned it and tried the stake some of the branches...a total mistake...because I pruned it, it started to really sucker and shoot out new growth...thing about lilacs is that it takes years for branches to really flower nicely...since my pruning a decade ago, its has never been as nice, but in a few years it'll be amazing.....

Mine is situated near my deck and near my dining room windows....for about three weeks in the spring it fills the house.....
I know I am wayyyy late on all of this...sorry..busy gets me everytime!
I wait till the 'babies' have their own roots, then I separate and re-plant or pot up. Helps make sure they take well.
Oh I would love a lilac. I tried to save a white one from my grandmother's farm but it didn't make it. I have no idea where I would put one though.
Hey..if we get to finally 'run' into each other ,hahaha, maybe we could plan something out & I could get one to ya!

Lilacs are my absolute favorite! I was ecstatic when I found out the Bush in our front yard is a lilac

I'm really excited to see it bloom this spring since we moved in afterward last year. It's not very big yet so I'm sure I won't have many blooms but I still can't wait. There's no better scent than lilac

Couldn't agree more on the fragrance!! They are awesome

that's where mine came from. Some lay green eggs, some tan. They are wonderful, however, good production, great personalities, friendly, pretty.

For those pruning lilacs. They should be pruned after flowering, being careful not to cut off new growth. Only prune the parts that have just flowered. This is easiest to do just after the flowers die. Next year's flowers are already developing at the end of the new growth just starting. Keeping the suckers cut back will also force growth into the mother plant. Removing the suckers will not hurt the plant.
Thank you Ray!! I get a little confused with these guys sometimes....doesn't take much I know

I have to meet MC in an hour and I still can not keep both eyes open, good thing that chicken people understand the lack of sleep thing.

The lilac conversation,,, please forgive me,,, I have killed many plants especially the neighbors lilac bushes,,,you see, I have an allergy to them and the neighbor insist on planting them under my kitchen window...I have no idea why she can not et a lilac bush to grow:D

Is it Friday yet?? 3 hours of sleep a day is just not cutting it..

Got the coop plans mostly finalized. I am getting most of what I want. Yay me. He is making the run bigger so even that change is in my favor. Coop will be 4 X 6 with a nest box off the left wall. Front will be a door for easy clean out. Pop door and ramp off to the right into the run. Roosts attached to the right wall 3 foot long. Coop elevated 2 feet.
Sounds great!! Remember..pictures or it is all a matter of imagination!

....and you can't brag without pics, so....
How do you tell if fermented feed spoiled? I have a small batch that I didn't stir for a few days. It had a whitish look on the top but smelled kind of sweet. It doesn't smell spoiled but then again I have never smelled spoiled fermented feed. No mold on it so that is a good thing

your husband makes you take it out of the house..

Anyone ever been to the auction at Belleville? If so, do you know when it starts? I've been to the farmers market but I didn't realize they had an animal auction there also. My husband wants to go. Not sure we should though, if he sees a good price on something who knows how much we will come back with.
