anyone interested in a speckled sussex rooster 1 yr old. He is making my DBF crazy with his crowing. The rooster is a good boy likes his hens but has to go. I'll find a picture of him.

][/URL] Somerset County close to Flight 93 this is a picture of him from last fall. the girls had their way with him and have removed some of his hackle and saddle feathers

I haven't been around for a few days. I'm really busy with a HUGE English paper (a 10 chapter book all about my life so far).

Yesterday was a historical event here. It was the first time I hatched eggs from my own flock. They're my new bantam cochin pair's babies. If I could have one breed for the rest of my life, it'd be bantam cochin hands down. The babies are oh my goodness. Two hatched and one is pipped. Here are the two already hatched:

Wing, yes the broody hens can hatch out the turkey eggs. Just split them up between the broody hens who have been sitting the shortest time to compensate for the longer incubating time. They should be fine.

All are in the big coop in the 10 hole nester, I will have to mark the eggs and hope for the best, will have to figure something out for the hatch but I got time for that....if I wait till hatch to move them would it be better...

They can not do any worse than me with the incubator, so why not let them try.

My favorite breed also..

Thinking about adding the large fowl Cochin, if I could figure out how to keep those feet clean in the mud.

Speaking of this breed, I have one bird that is always hunkered down in the corner, just like a broody, only problem is it's a rooster....think maybe he is confused.

Give him some eggs!

Some of my mom and dad's friends came over yesterday evening for a bonfire and when they saw my roo, they said "Oh my God, he's HUGE!" and I was like "That's a bantam breed! He's like 2-3 pounds. The chicks I have in the basement will be 13 pounds full grown (brahma)."

My you've been busy people!

Got my 150 plus trees planted. All bare root seedlings, so not too bad.

Almost have my field cut down. Hate the weeds, so decided to mow it all. Wish I had a working compact tractor with a mower deck. So long to do it with a little rider. Now to try to keep up with it.

Trying to decide what to plant for cover and wildlife. Maybe even edibles for me.

Great to meet groggy yesterday!

Oh, and more chicks hatching.
