The brave chick I mentioned yesterday. I'm assuming it's a Swedish flower, unless it came through the fence from another run and decided to stay.

Question for the group!

I got an egg in the nest box...........that had liquid around it.............and on the pine shavings................damp watery..........

Is this just and extra dose of BLOOM? or does one of my gals have leak or medical issue?

the egg looked quite fine and all girls seem themselves...........

never saw this?

Ok, so I need some advice from you experts. Here's my group: 12 LF pullets and 1 bantam, 3 LF cockerels and 1 bantam. Now, my little bantam roo, the big boys don't care about. He's just here for his little girl Cookie and they seem to agree on that. My 3 LF roos though are giving me a hard time. Blue and Joel are the two I want to keep. They had an agreement and worked well together with the flock for a while. Lou was the outcast, not even allowed to crow without getting in trouble but as long add he just hangs out he's fine. He doesn't have any attributes that I don't want to pass on. I don't like his coloring or posture at all so I've been planning fit a few weeks to take him to the swap tomorrow. Well, now it seems that Joel has decided he doesn't like Blue. He's been chasing him and harassing him a lot lately. He doesn't care about Lou at all though. Blue doesn't fight back, he just cries and runs away but he always comes back and sticks around the group. So my question is, will they work out their issues and get along once Lou is gone. I really don't want to get rid of Blue too if we don't absolutely have to. Joel is absolutely staying. He's always been the boss and is great with leading his girls around and showing them things and protecting them. He's also a REALLY good looking boy and a good example of the breed (the boys are all black/blue copper marans)

We can all give opinions, but there is only one fact that I know of.
Roosters and hens are always changing status. The battle for top spot is a periodic thing, and IMO, it is not to be worried about. They will work it out.

Thats a cute pic, wing. :)

Who's going to the Butler TSC swap tomorrow morning and what's everyone bringing? I'll have two cockerels. I had them and my pullet listed on CL and someone wanted just the pullet. So I'll have two mottled bantam cochin cockerels. 9 weeks. I'm looking for either a call or mallard hen.

That's going to be either a high ranking hen or a roo with it being so spunky already... awesome that the group is allowing it to feed...

I have seen shell-less eggs laid and sometimes a soft or no-shell egg laid right after a regular egg when the hens are young or have a hiccough in their system. If they are behaving normally I would watch them for changes and unless something else changes I would chalk it up to an oddity and not worry.

I would expect your lead 2 roosters to work it out once the 3rd is gone, as MC said they are constantly shuffling pecking orders so wait to see how this change effects their behavior and take it from there.
Cute pic!
