Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

That is cool! Hopefully they will be well rewarded for their efforts....

Well fisher, this morning I saw a baby peeking out from under the broody on the left (#2), two hours later I went to see if anything else was hatching and I found the baby under broody #1 dead....not a clue as to what happened,,,,,,,

I am a couple of weeks behind. Allergies were acting up and getting ready for back to school. Welcome to all the new peoples.

I made dinner tonight with everything I grew with my own two hands. It was delicious! Green zuchinni, tomatoes, crooked neck squash and turkey. I don't now how I got crooked neck squash because I only planted green and yellow zuchinni seeds. It was good!

My hubby pointed out that my little silkie I hatched from my silkies has 12 toes!!!! Wowzers.

Hope everyone is making out ok in this hot and humid weather. I think I am ready for Autumn now! Never thought I would say that lol.
There is golden rood blooming everywhere around here...looks beautiful though....The small outside tonight is so awesome! Sweet and autumny...hahaha...
Thought someone here might appreciate this;

LOVE IT!! Todd said I need to get one! Would love to see the looks with this on...hahaha

Sorry to hear that...I hate finding that, there is no way to tell if it was an accidental suffocation or an illness. out of 22 hatches so far this year we have had about a half dozen nest deaths...it is discouraging but thankfully isn't the norm.

Great weekend!

msladyhawke visited the farm and met Iris, the black mottled turkey hen that prefers to eat her treats directly from people's fingers. She thinks that greens taste much better that way. I can really waste a lot of time picking greens for her to eat, LOL. I highly recommend a pet turkey to everyone!

I also took an incubator to a family with 5 children for them to enjoy hatching their own chicks. To say they are super-excited would be an understatement. Kids have such enthusiasm, and it's contagious. I love this part of having chickens.

Wasn't today's weather fabulous? Great for working in the garden! weeds are easier to pull after yesterday's storm. Dug our potatoes crop and picked a lot of tomatoes, squash and green beans. I'd hate digging potatoes if not for my 2 young nieces, who were so excited to pick up the potatoes, it made it seem like light work (hopefully my back agrees tomorrow).

Lisa:

No problem...its never nice to see a chirping day old keel over, but, I have had a few not make it...never one that was fully dried off, but had three from the last broody set...

Also, just to let you know how crazy it is with broody girls...had the CCL girl step on top of the two broody marans to lay an egg...thats three in one nesting box....

Opened the grow out pen and have started integrating FlowerFairey's girls....my boys are in tall cotton...so far, its going really well...

Made homemade chicken soup. The boys and I are sick :( It was the scrawniest rooster I have seen. Last year we grew out Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster for the freezer. Pulled one out today for the soup. They are nothing like Cornish x's.
