I wish they would at least throw out coupons a bit more regularly...this stuff does add up.welcome, it would be awful to do all that work and then have to redo it, i know i would kinda be p----d, not to mention the cost of the lids

So today is processing day. DS and DH just left with a truck full of my birds. I think I may have made too many decisions with my heart instead of my head. We are keeping just enough birds to keep the lines we've been working on. And an additional 5 birds for sentimental reasons. It leaves us with approximately 20 birds.
That sucks and is poor management in my opinion. There is no reason for them not to know well before the end of your shift. Totally callous to not consider that some folks have tight schedules for child care or other commitments and can't just change them at the drop of a hat, and even if not a child care issue people do deserve to have a life!! I detest management (managers) with that mentality!RANT, RANT, RANT
really it is not okay for employers to treat with disrespect,,, I have no problem with working extra hours, but do not tell me 10 minutes after the normal quitting time.
Rant over, to ticked off to put into words
I am glad you kept the broody! Definitely a source of joy and entertainment which I think you deserve a lot of with everything else you are going through! Thanks guys. I have looked out the window no less than a dozen times today at the broody and chicks that I really had no business hanging onto. They've made me smile each and every time. So I guess it was worth it.
DH has never done the processing run before. I'm still not supposed to be lifting and am paying dearly for some indiscretions I've made there, so I sent DH and gave my son the day off from school so I wouldn't be tempted to lift. I actually thought DH would find it interesting, my son does....well, he did NOT find it interesting and was a bit traumatized by the whole process. Yes people, I'm married to one of 'them'. No clue where his food comes from. Sheesh!
Sorry to hear about your Dad having troubles... hopefully he gets well soon!Wasn't someone asking about quails a couple days ago? My Dad has been raising them for a few years and had unexpected triple bypass a week ago. He called me today, upset, he just can't take care of them right now (he can barely move) and wanted to know if I knew anyone who may want to buy them. I don't have an exact count on them but I think he has between 38-50 of them. He purchased 27 new ones about 6 weeks ago.
I will be at my parents on Thanksgiving and will have get a complete count but didn't know if anyone was interested in purchasing the whole lot. I will also find out the breeds too.
Actually looks pretty close.... but then again, I consider anyone within 2 hours of me as 'close enough for coffee'! LOLwingstone was looking for some, don't know if shes close to you or not

Can you please say a prayer for my cousins. They live on the outskirts of Ferguson Mo. They are expecting a new baby in a few weeks and had stuff in a storage locker in Ferguson and it was burnt to the ground last night.

sorry you have to deal with people like that *wing...good luck with finding something to get you out of there..it can be tough. My quail pens are full of confused broodies right now, didn't know what else to do with them, silly birds.
Fisherlady you would hate the management at my job, it is quite normal to be told at nine at night that we are not leaving on time, quite often it is more like 3 am...but waiting till the end of the shift and even then we had to go ask what was going on,,,, that pushed to far.... needless to say, I am job hunting for anything, will even take part time right now, just to get out...
New management in the last 2 years, it is a shame, I have 18 years invested in that job..but can not work like that,
x's 2 on everything thereI can totally understand going with your heart.... I am so sorry you are going through this.![]()

Wing wants some, and I think Chiques Chicks (sp?) had said he would make room to raise them even if she didn't have the space? Send her a PM... nice thing is that she is close enough to you to be able to get eggs or chicks back to your Dad after he is feeling better.

I don't know the specific breeds but I know there are no bobwhites.

Good newsThank you for the well wishes, Dad is already home but very limited. Bless the docs at Hershey Med!
I used to drive 120 miles a day back and forth to Camp Hill for work so 2 hours isn't so bad. It takes me almost an hour just to get to my parents and I try to visit with my little one once a week!
Also, got my own biopsy results back today and thankfully, they were NEGATIVE!Drinking some homemade wine, celebrating the good news and my birthday!![]()
