Hi, I have a question & if this isn't the place to ask it, can someone head me in the right direction? My chickens have started shaking their heads, not violently but noticeably. I have 8 & 7 of them are laying pretty consistently & seem very healthy otherwise. Thanks.

I think my mom is ready to start an intervention. She asked me today how many birds I'm up to. I counted in my head for a second and told her 60. She said "That's too many!" She obviously doesn't comprehend to mathematics of chickens. According to chicken math, I only officially have 29 lol.

60's nothing! My uncle has 300 chickens, 30 geese, 30 turkeys and 2 ducks!

is there frostbite??? on these chooks...my first guess....

I did notice a few black dots on some of the girls combs but nothing real large and not on every chicken. I'll read the article that Chippysmom put on here for me. Thanks y'all for such prompt responses :)

Tell her "how can I have extra to sell if I don't hatch a bunch of chicks?"

I swear, my Maple is disaster prone! Tonight, I was gathering up the food dishes and the one was upside down. I picked it up and lo and behold, Maps is tucked underneath wroth fermented feed stuck all over her feathers! I did not expect that when I picked it up. Knowing her, being the food queen, she probably tipped it on herself! So now she's in the house, soaked from a bath. She'll probably spend the night in the big brooder with the bigger babies tonight. Poor girl!

Our Midget White tom died today

We miss him so much, and I think his hens do too. He was sick the last few weeks and I'd been trying different meds and the last one seemed to work, he was strutting and gobbling in Sat, but dead Monday morning.

I think we'll keep most of the 14 poults we have so far to raise up in memory of him.
