Drove out to Benton to pick up my new Muscovy ducklings. Ordered 10 but by the time we picked them up (they came in Tuesday and we couldn't get them till today) one had died. The lady tried everything to save it. I told her sometimes they just don't make it. She was so upset. On the way home, we got stuck on Rt 80 about 15 to 20 minutes away from our house. My car started to shake really bad and I told hubby to pull over. We pulled over in between rt 80 and an on ramp. My tire was about to blow up, the metal started to stick out of it. Of course we couldn't get the spare tire off my car, it rusted shut. Had to be towed home from AAA.

Here's my babies

Yikes! What a rough day! Glad you're home safe.

You wouldn't happen to want to swap a few eggs would you? It will take me a couple weeks (I need to set another batch
Silkie: No turkeys for me....I'm too suburban....PM me what you are looking for, I may be able to just give you some....
I could do chicken or quail in a few weeks too. I'm just trying to stuff the bator a couple more times before I slack off hatching.
All: Just picked up two Colombian Wyandottes at Pickering...they asked me for my address and phone....seem the state AG wants documentation on who has chooks...guess the AI thing has everyone concerned...hope there's no outbreaks in Chester Co.... I have x6 4wk olds going out side tomorrow to meet the big girls...and will have supervised free ranging for the crew....expect the roos to swap some paint....should I break them up or just intervene if one gets too beat up??? I have my three one day olds...... a broody on a handful of eggs and and incubator with two dozen set....
As long as no blood is shed, or very little, I let mine go. They are gonna squabble. Best to let them sort it out when possible.
Ameraucana 1 year old split to lavender. This years youngsters, January hatched.
OMG!!! Gorgeous!!! Any way you would swap a few of their eggs? I love lavender birds & blue eggs!!!

The middle one is my favorite. I picked that one out first and I love the colors she is getting. I am calling her stormy because she looks like a storm cloud to me. Fluffy and different color greys. Love them all

wingstone, i know you make bone broth, need your help, the last two time i've made the broth, instead of nice and clear, its very cloudy, almost a yellowish color. what am i doing wrong?  course it does taste good

ANYONE?

I'm no expert here, but I think your problem may be that you cooked your broth at too high a temperature, which emulsifies the fat and "scum" as it is called. You are supposed to keep it at a very low, barely bubbling simmer. Check out the broth recipes on www.foodwishes.com . Quick videos that will walk you through it without being boring. :D As you have discovered, the taste is not really affected, only the looks.
