All five laid today!! Go figure. The second green egg, and already a large.
While I would like an olive egg in my hand to compare, in my opinion, these are olive. Now, how lucky is that?!

Congrats on all of them finally getting it going!
Looks about right for our girls....we have quite a variation in shades of brown and green. No bright blue or welsummer dark brown, but I like the various shades we do get.

Has anyone ever had a hen that sometimes laid two eggs in a day? I don't know if you guys remember my little Fria, the baby that was inside last fall for a week with sour crop, or not but she's all grown up now and SURPRISE! Every couple days she gives me two eggs in one day. Now, I was skeptical about it at first and in denial since her second egg in the day is a lot lighter colored and feels different but she's the one hen I have that lays an egg with light purple spots (got that from her mother lol). I did see her lay both eggs yesterday so I'm not crazy. I'm just curious if I should be worried about any health issues or anything and if anyone every had one like this before.

I'd be afraid it would cause some sort of problem. She may be at risk for egg peritonitis (sp?) where the eggs drop off into the abdominal cavity. Another thing would be that she goes through henopause early and stop laying at a young age. That's just my opinion, and every hen is different (obviously).

My blue slate hens did this about twice a week. Both hens would lay 2 in 1 day about twice a week. I've had chicken hens do it too, but not often. Usually I would get 1 real early & the other real late when they double up.
