I can't believe I'm saying this, but if anyone feels that they have the flu, be sure to treat it seriously. About an hour ago, my otherwise healthy brother-in-law died from the flu. The same one that was going to move to a farm in two months and take a flock of my chicks and ducks.
He was about 49, my sister just turned 40. The boys are 13, and 10. My niece is nine.

Oh no! I am so sorry :( Prayers, from our family to yours

Thank you. I just can't believe it! This whole past week I have listened to my overly dramatic mother whining about Brian being a faker. Saying that he needs to get his lazy butt back to work, and provide for his family. He was fevered, and in pain, but no one listened! They were down to one car, and my sister wouldn't bring him to the hospital.
Due to the mess my marriage has been in, I have not gotten life insurance for my husband. I thought it was wrong since I never know what is going on. But now... I don't think it is an option. I am looking into insurance. Any little bit will help.
I understand death better than most. I have lost three fiancees. I have lost babies, friends, and so many aunts and uncles, ousins, my father and a brother. But Brian is just too weird!

And the kids. Oh my. The kids.

MotorcycleChick, you have my sympathy, but let me add to this. Go to October in your 2016 calendar and mark GET A FLU SHOT! Then do it. You can get it at doctors' offices, pharmacies and clinics, often for free. I think many of us know otherwise healthy people who have had complications from the flue and perhaps even someone who died. The flu can also damage your heart, in which case it's not counted as a flu death.
Once you've had a wake up call, the flu shot is a must.

I think it was eleven years ago, a week after my birthday that my father died. My mother has been in and out of the hospital lately (which is why she was near my sister in Ohio, not her other house in Massachusetts) so I was thinking it would be ironic if she passed this month. She seems to be okay. My birthday is in a week. Being my b-i-l, it is still ironic.

That is why it is so surprising that I would say it. You can beat me up, pull my hair and knock out my teeth, and I won't react much. Needles are not something I handle well. It looks like I found a reason that makes it important.
