I have been there, but haven't sold any chickens yet ~ I usually try to stay away from the auction so I'm not tempted! Based on what others have told me you don't need to register ahead, you just bring your birds, fill out the paperwork and you can even leave and they will send you a check later if you don't want to stay for the auction. There is a small fee charged, but I'm not sure how much. I think they get a lot of poultry and other small animals in this time of year.

I so wish I could take one (wondering if one would get along with a 7 week old roo & 12 pullets but thinking probably not enough pullets for two guys), but I do know of an auction every Tuesday evening at 6 in Nicholson Pa. It's about a 2-2 1/2 hour ride according to yahoo maps

I'll get the info if you would like exact directions, phone # etc & post it for you. If you're interested let me know.

Well, it could be a reason to get more girls!!! LOL

But yes, if you could post the info, that would be great!!! I have posted on here and craigslist and have not been able to rehome any lately at all. About 3/4 of my winter hatch were boys!!!

*sigh* Well after days of attempting to find someone to contact for the info, the best I could come up with was from a local.
You don't need to pre-register, just show up
The auction starts at 6PM but you have the "show up" between 12 & 5. She said the earlier you get there, the better, they won't accept anything after 5. BUT the animals sit in a very hot area while waiting for auction so you have to make sure the box/carrier has tons of ventilation (they also won't accept anything without enough holes in the carrier)
As for directions, Nicholson is one of those blink & you miss it type towns so.... When you see the bridge (believe me you won't miss it, it's one of the highest railway bridges in the country) look for the mini mart (there's only one), the auction is just across from there.

Oh, just a little fyi with a giggle
I was told at last week's auction tons of "city folk" showed up, but the poultry wasn't selling so the auctioneer started saying "These pullets are a special breed that will lay up to 5 that's right FIVE eggs a day!!!"
The pullets all sold at over $20 a piece!!

More than a little unethical but.....

Thank you so much! Now to get a day off of work to get there!!! I think I like the way that auctioneer thinks! LOL Wish they had these things on weekends!!! I would really prefer to find home for these boys but I have no choice. Between them and the broodies, I am exhausted!!!
