Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello, all PA peeps : ) \\

please read:

I am moving into western MD for college (Frostburg MD/PA line area) in less than a month. Over the past 2 yrs of having chickens, i have spoiled myself on fresh eggs and do not look foward to eatting store bought again. By the same token, i like helping out local farmers and would be willing to pay more for fresh eggs, milk, etc...Is anyone on here local to that area that i could buy from?

I would post something on craigslist but craigslist is very scary... you never know what weirdos that may bring.

Saturday small livestock Renninger's auction in Schuylkill Haven might work for you. I think it starts around 5 pm, probably get your chickens in early afternoon. I haven't been there for the auction ( don't' need the temptation!) but that is the general way auctions work in this area. It is very easy to get to from Harrisburg: East 81 to 78 and then north on 61. I am guessing an easy 1 1/2 hours from the river in Harrisburg- all highway.
Make the hubby happy and stop at Cabella's at Hamburg on the way:)

I didn't realize they had an auction at schuykill haven! This will be closer but I would be coming down through the Pine Grove area down 443. Hmmm....and it is a Saturday!! IS there a website or anything for me to call and check out the details on any requirements?

Took some sleuthing for this. Found it a auctionzip.com ( great site!)

Thank you so much for this!!! I am going to try to be there this weekend if all works out! I just rehomed 2 boys tonight to a good home so that makes me happy. They will have their own girls now. I still have many more to go though!!!

I thought I would post some pics of a couple of boys I will need to be taking to the auction in an attempt to rehome. I would rather find them homes instead of taking them to auction so please let me know if interested. They are free!

Nice little silkie boy about 6 1/2 months old with great foot feathering!

This guy here is a silkie/EE mix and I hate to see him go but he actually ended up to be quite big and is too big for alot of my girls. He is a great roo, protective of his girls and very people friendly. Not to mention he is gorgeous too!!

This guy isn't too very big but should be the only roo. He does get along with some boys but if he doesn't like one, he sure lets them know. He is also an EE/silkie mix.

Thank you! I would love to keep them all but you just can't do that with boys!

I even tried a bachelor pen which didn't work either so I would love to find them new homes and I really hate taking them to auction but I just can't keep them all! I hatched a bunch over the winter months and about 3/4 of them were boys!

I called it is Sunday 8AM to 1PM.
I went on Mother's Day, but got there late. They said it was a good turn out earlier, but I don't imagine it is as good as Fayette County.

It's still 3 1/2 hours for you. I was going to go this month, if I don't see you there I will let you know how it was.
