DH is ticked...he wants to know exactly when you get the delivery and what temp the eggs/box interior is when you do get them. The delivery has insurance on it and he plans to file a complaint/claim for its handling. No excuse for it not to have been at your place today.

Just remember this is the US post office you're talking about. No excuse but it happens. Three years ago I ordered live chicks which were shipped on a Monday afternoon. They arrived alive and healthy in less than 24 hours.
I was so happy with my chicks I ordered more the next year. Whether or not it was the fact that the post office went to the new hub system...everything is shipped to a hub and then goes from there.
The chicks started out the same way, Monday afternoon I was following the tracking. They should have arrived Tuesday. No chicks. I was calling. They said Wednesday morning. No chicks. I kept getting excuses. Then they said the order arrived at the post office. It didn't. Finally they admitted it was lost.
Somehow, despite repeated calls the package sat for over two days in Philadelphia in extremely cold weather. They took four days to arrive I was surprised any survived but haven't allowed myself to order anything living shipped since then.
At least eggs have a better chance of surviving than chicks but who knows how they treat the packages.
Good luck. I certainly wish another carrier would handle living things. Or the post office would be more responsible;

In a "for profit" business, you expect some accountability, but when everyone's livelihood is government protected (like the USPS, a public utility, or a gov protected monopoly) it's not surprising that the level of apathy is so high. Some people will work for the satisfaction of a job well done, but there are some people (we all know some), who if they could get through life doing nothing productive at all, they would, and they would enjoy every minute of it. Sadly, those two are meant for each other and they meet pretty often, hence the low expectations we have for them (people and institutions).

I will keep you updated. Unfortunately, I leave at 9:00 am and won't be home until 5, but I can ask a neighbor if they can put the package in my house. We usually don't get mail until late afternoon. I was going to ask about the insurance, since I know they cover that with Priority mail.

I just called since they open at 7:30. He said it hasn't even gotten to my local post offic yesterday, it's probably still in Philly. :/. The gentleman on the phone said they had massive call outs yesterday. :rolleyes: At least it was only eggs and not chicks.
