So I performed another bumblefoot surgery on my Cali Grey girl the other night. It went well but took me over an hour, poor thing, but I did get a lot of goo out. I had done an excision on the bottom of her foot last week or before, but she also had one developing in between her toes.

When I worked on her foot the other night, it seemed like she lost a fair amount of blood considering she is such a scrawny thing. She is also regrowing some feathers on her back that were pulled out from mating.

Is there any kind of treat or supplement I can give her to help her heal more? I figure she is probably a little anemic. Any safe iron rich foods for chickens?

Hey guys I have a girl with a swollen foot but no sign of black scab for bumble foot. What kind of antibiotic do Iget if its an infection? I'm soaking it right now.

I think it is bumble foot after cleaning it. Its on her toe but the padis swollen too. Do Ihaveto cut her in two places or will it come out all from her toe?

Exciting! Each Show has their own testing requirements, they are listed in the Premium Booklet. Most shows require testing for AI and/or Pullorum, usually within 30 days of the show. The CPT who comes out to draw the blood will know how many birds and which ones should be tested, they should also put PDA leg bands on the birds.
Yup both were on the list for the premium books. And... there's a CPT???? What's that? I only know about the PDA for leg bands... I thought I just needed to take my birds to the vet for testing?

There's also some talk about a vet letter or something of that ilk. Do you know anything about that?

I would try her with tuna and yogurt or chopped up hard boiled egg , mix
Some favorite seeds in with it to encourage eating it.

This is the PA Ag Owner Endorsed Health Certificate that most PA Fairs ask for.

a CPT is a Certified Poultry Technician, they are licensed to draw blood on Poultry. Although if you have a vet that is willing to draw the blood, by all means...have them do it.

Soooo I may have done something impulsive and slightly stupid... There was a roo that needed a home at the feed mill. He's a year at most. One of my girls got pecked a bit hard so she's bleeding a little but it's just near/on the side of her comb and so far he's going easy on them. I'll keep an eye on her but it's not looking too serious. Honestly he just wants his space it seems, for now anyways. Mississippi has picked a few fights but Logan (the new guy) actually hasn't been all that rough with him. From what I can tell it's mostly corrections and discipline just like Klaus. Good news is he's only just starting spurs and they're nubs. He's a barred rock too!
