Hi everyone! (again) So since many of you were talking about perhaps getting ducks, I was wondering, if I bought the rest of the pekin and pekin mixes in maryland would any of you want some? They're about a week to 2 weeks old, and I actually get a discount if I take the rest. Let me know if you guys want any :)

Thank you for the offer, but I am going to wait for mini ducks in the spring. Best of luck!

Egg update. We have one external pip!!!

And the broody has not returned to the nest. I have another one that went broody this week, and a silkie that has been sitting on the nest, so I will try to attach them to her. I’m not hopeful about that though.

Crossing my fingers for you Anne!

Fanged, did you find homes for all your wyandottes? I adore mine--an egg a day and SO pretty and friendly!

Welcome to Ellagance! I am sorry I can't help, but I enjoyed your pictures!

Two questions for the board--

1) What predator tries to dig under a hen house? I have a wooden floor but I am worried.
2) Who makes chicken diapers? Daffodil is 100% recovered, but I can't really toss her outside in the snow after three weeks indoors in a box by a radiator.

Lelanae that's fantastic!! I actually haven't sold the rest of them yet. Someone was supposed to come down and pick up the other 3 but she never showed or got back in touch, honestly hope she's okay... she sounded super interested.

I wish, and we are actually driving down to Maryland to pick up a few ducklings this weekend, but my dad is really skeptical about keeping an actual flock of ducks (I'm a junior in high school so I only have so much say in things). If I could, I would rescue any animal I possibly could (and trust me I've tried :th), It's just we spent so much money on the coop we made, and she gets so lonely when she cant see another duck. and she will just quack all day. I fear we have to come up with a more... final decision. Thank you though @dheltzel ! Much appreciated!

Ohhh god I completely understand about trying to rescue literally every animal. That's us right here. It started with one ferret, now we're on 11 ferrets and we've only bought 2 of them, the rest were rescues.

Omg omg Anne!! I can't wait to see them!! We're actually going into lockdown today (I'm so freaking nervous) thankfully @LeBlackbird stayed over last night so she's gonna give me a hand with the eggs this morning. :fl Just hoping for a full hatch! I only have 3!!

Well, I woke up to a surprise this morning. I could've swore that I didn't have any eggs die until next weekend. I woke up this morning hearing peeping from the cabinet....very confused, I opened it up to find 2 very large CX outcross babies just hanging out on the rack staring at me. OOPS! They never had lockdown or humidity above 28% but they hatched themselves out just fine. I double checked. NOW I don't have anything due till next weekend lol

That’s awesome Aurora! It’s amazing how they survive with neglect!

The one egg is now starting to make a bigger hole, and we are hearing peeping. Hoping he/she has at least one buddy that hatches. It’s always terrible to have just one.

#1 is out! I stepped away for 30 minutes and out he popped!l

Sorry for being a thread hog today! Look at these two Cali Grays. They are the same breed, but one is just finishing her molt, and the other is just beginning. They look like two different sizes, but they are sisters. So thankful this second one is finally molting, she was pretty bare on her back from her being the favorite of the rooster.

Congrats Anne!! Here's hoping the others hatch without any issues! Speaking of hatching, Lockdown is in effect and for some reason no matter how much water I stick in the incubator it's still staying put at 57% humidity. I hope they're going to be okay
