Is it best to have 1 male and 2-3 females or will the male only bred with one female? I never raised turkeys.
I keep extra toms (just in case something happens to one) in my breeding pen. I think there are 11 hens and 4 toms in there now. As long as you get them into the same pens before breeding season starts, they get along fine. I've heard 1 tom can handle 20 or more hens, but I use lower rations than that.

I've heard that one Tom to 4-6 hens is a great ratio. I have 2 toms together with 4 hens right now (though 2 are broody) and two other toms with 2 girls each to themselves.

well Hello winter again!
5* out of the wind, has to be 0* or less with this wind. Nasty!
Chickens are staying in as of right now. Not even the tweety birds have much to say this morning & they're usually making happy at 6am-ish, as soon as the light hits the sky.

Wish winter would just do its thing and move on.... hate the freeze/thaw cycles and false hopes on warm days followed by the misery of returning cold. Just pick 8 or 10 weeks, be cold and then get on with spring.
Really hoping this year's spring isn't the wet misery of last year again.
