I've been making chicken and turkey saddles for the past couple weeks. Here are the fruits of my labor :) I have more cut out but I'm out of interfacing so I get a break now.

I lost another two chicks. Cold or trampled, I don’t know. I saw everyone (but one I did have to bring in because it was trampled) hanging out by the heat lamp I finally gave them. No crowding, just staying warm. I went out with the dog, intending to bring a friend in for the loud mouth. One in one corner, one in another. Nowhere near the lamp. I gave them time to warm up inside before pronouncing them dead. I seriously don’t know what is wrong with these chicks. I can speculate all over, but the outcome is the same.
I’ve never had chicks that couldn’t handle these temperatures without a lamp. Different coop, so I get them being cold. Not using the lamp is what gets me. I’ve had LH that were loud until they were several months old. I’ve had chicks that screamed as they hatched until I put them in the brooder. These pasty bottomed chicks peep all the time. Heat lamp or not (actually, they are quieter without since they can sleep) in the house. I will be so glad when they are outside for good.

The whole "Have they hatched yet" thread is me right now. Expecting our first grandbaby ANY MINUTE NOW. Actually due the 11th.

Very excited for you!:love...so many awesome memories
We just celebrated Bugs 6th B-day :woot, goes by too fast.
There is nothing more age-marking than that of a grandchild!:old

Had to laugh when I saw this..so awesome, totally...like the trillion canning jars in the kitchen waiting their turn to be filled. Yours just needs some chicken butts..backs..bodies:jumpy.
I am glad that is one thing I do not have to deal with at the moment!! Crazy love sick roosters:oops:
Have been on some sort of "canning kick" here, soup/ sauce/salsa...dog treats, that's not canning, but it is still getting the oven/stove hot!

I am out of regular lids for the jars:barnie...now have to go to the "big" store 1/2 hour away- one way...uggg!
Wish there was a DIY for canning jar lids!!
Wax was used at one time, but I don't believe they recommend that method anymore:old
Oh well, just have to deal I guess. This does get pricey after a bit.
You don't realize it at first.
One box of lids is ...1.67, i think something like that..now times that by, oh , I don't know,...50, and there you go!:th
When anyone asks what I need or would want it's usually something pertaining to canning, food prep. or the animals:bun
Every now and then I need socks:p..hahaha

I know I am going to get smacked for this one but,..I hope we get more snow than rain with this next crapper storm:oops:...there is soooo much water laying around here and that river looks like it ready to go over it's banks. None of the weather people are talking about THAT issue:hmm...yet.
Chickens are happily standing in a group huddle sunning/warming themselves this morning. It will be a different story tomorrow though, don't tell them that please.
Hope you are all well today.
