Help! Yesterday I noticed one of our chickens on a nesting box, acting sleepy, lethargic. I left her alone until night and saw she was still the same. I suspected she might be egg bound as she was not walking at all, so I gave her a warm bath for 30 mins, tried to feel for an egg, but felt nothing. Ended up putting her in a dog cage in my room so she can stay warm. Today she seems to be having a hard time breathing. Breathing with her mouth open. What do I do for her now?

Do you have a vet that you call on? When she breathing mouth open, it is now respiratory and you need a vet. Has she been pooping, any other respiratory issues like sneezing or discharge? My daughter works for a vet that takes care of chickens,ducks etc but she is out of town right now.

I am the vet and everyone on BYC are my assistants. Sorry but when someone has many chickens, it costs way too much to have a vet come every time a chicken is sick.

Are they all Olive eggers? It's unfortunate thats all that hatched but it's always rough with shipped eggs.

Aww, so cute! Hope that one's a girl! That one Olive egger with the white spot is a boy, yes.
