Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello PA friends...
I am upgrading my coop/run combo to a bigger coop. In doing this I have to upgrade to nesting boxes, mine are currently to narrow. What do you guys think about the heavy duty plastic ones vs. the traditional wood ones?

I like the plastic ones because I can wash them out. Wood can splinter, but more importantly, hide mites.
Thank you. I am learning that about them. What do you use for cleaning these? Do they easily come apart? What about the heat, do they get hot in the summer or cold in the winter? Thank you for ypur help with this.

The plastic ones from TSC don’t come apart. They can usually just be wiped out, but if they get gross, I soak them in Dawn.
They don’t get too hot thanks to vents in the sides, and they don’t hold the cold either.

So very happy to finally have power back! Our generator kept going out too! Lucky to have a broody hen..I put the eggs From our incubator under her and am hoping she does okay. It’s her first time. 😬

Always great to have a backup broody!

My incubators are all officially cleaned up, cleaned out, and shut down for the season! The only breeding I may do is my best silkie hen x the newer roo that I got. He's nice, but he's got a few flaws that I think Ci-ci can correct. I think a son from them would do very well leading the flock :)
