Hi, I’m looking for a new rooster. Is there a rehoming thread for PA? I’m in York, we lost our rooster and 2 hens to a fox. My 10 remaining hens need a new Roo....
Hi There, I know this post is from a year ago, but I'm wondering if you'd like to take on another rooster? I live in Brooklyn New York where we have a flock of hens. Recently we took on two very young chickens from a neighbor and one ended up being a rooster. We would LOVE to keep him, but roosters are sadly illegal in the city. He only just started crowing and it's a matter of time before the neighbors won't tolerate us anymore. He's about 5 months old and is a beautiful Buff Laced Polish, so he is on the smaller side for a rooster. He does really well with his buff laced hen and the rest of our older flock, and is not (so far) alpha like other roosters we've accidentally had in the past. Happy to provide more info! Thanks!

Unfortunately 3 weeks old is likely too old for 99% of broodies to take. I have a hen who will adopt older chicks if she has her own already, but grafting to a new broody is best done with only the youngest chicks.
Thanks. That’s what I thought, but just want to try. Sunny is the lowest in pecking order and she is very lonely. I was hoping if she raises these babies, she can have some friends. Maybe they still can be friends later.

How was it?

Meh. Agway doesn't get the traffic that we need for good swaps but I did unload about 12 birds (6 at the swap and 6 by surprise at tractor supply after lol). Tractor supply won't let us set up in their lots again yet. They shut us down when covid started and haven't allowed us back yet. That's where we do the best.

Dennis -- I didn't know it was your birthday! I would have brought you something yesterday when I picked up the chicks. All seem well btw.
It's not really my birthday. Facebook will not allow you to setup an account without specifying your BD and making it public. I don't trust FB at all and so I lied. Turns out they take anything you give them and accept is as the truth. So whatever FB tells you isn't always the truth.
I would quit FB altogether, but the traffic here is not nearly as good for local sales of chicks, even though FB explicitly prohibits those sales.
My real birthday is in February, a good time when I was a boy, so I could ask for gardening supplies as gifts. I was also one of the first kids in my class to get my driver's license, which was a HUGE deal back then, doesn't seem to be as much now.

Funny. I am with you on FB -- I even take it one step further and have a fake name on FB. Of course I only use FB to look at chicken products and to buy things locally -- I don't use it for social interaction.

My kids are 22 and 26 and neither have their drivers license yet. At least the older one has his permit... This is what I get for teaching them to use public transportation when they were early teens.

Anyway happy faux birthday and I will try to remember to give you some plants in February... or maybe not unless they are indoor plants.
