What I do know!
#1, I should stop posting. 3 in a row is too much.
#2, The sand is drying, so much easier and faster to scoop poop.
#3, I have learned that 18 chickens poop a LOT more than ten!!

#4, The blue tarp that I put under the sand needs to be cut or staples to the wall better. The chickens keep getting poop in the folds at night. I shake the poop out but that is going to get old fast.
I really am liking the sand. It is more work, but if I had a poop board like a lot of you (?) I would have been cleaning poop daily anyway. This is much cleaner, and I do think it has a lot of benefits. Sand makes a better dust bath than wood chips for one! Grit is already there, and any food spilled on the floor (from the hens running from the roosters) can be seen, and picked up. No wasted food!
Thank You for experimenting with this. LOL! I don't have the poop board on my coop. I didn't order that "extra", So I will be in the same boat as you.....now that I think about it, my coop should be coming this week...Wahoo!

Wow! Well geez! You missed all the fun! Bruce came up and we processed all those cornish X birds. Was a cold venture, but we laughed a lot and had some fun while doing it. And you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm only 2 miles North of Myerstown. A call to say " Hey Chad! In your neighborhood, what the heck are ya up too?" really wouldn't be too much to ask lol

We were actually in Frystown I think...or at least just outside it. And we got there at 7:30 pm, and left around midnight with the party still in full swing...I'm sure all our friends' butts will be dragging today...but we have much on the agenda!

Unloaded the feed this morning, changed the waterers, and gave the chickens and ducks munchies. Oh! And when I was collecting the morning eggs! A duck egg! YAY!
