I hatch every 2 weeks, so I can match hatch times pretty closely to what you are incubating.Oh my gosh!! I just checked out your website. Awesome! I currently only have 4 lightish brown layers, a cream layer and one who lays a light green egg. You have most of the colors that I am looking for though. I would love an olive egger, a blue layer and a real, dark brown layer. Also, a pink layer would be cool. I actually just put in some eggs for the Easter hatch-a-long, but depending on how many actually hatch, I might have to pick up a few chickies from you.
I should warn you that pink eggs are not real, it is just a heavy bloom on regular eggs and washes off easily. I occasionally get eggs with such heavy bloom that they look pink (or purple, in the case of Welbar eggs). I don't breed for that, I really don't think it's possible and the statements about Croad Langshans or Orpingtons laying "pink" eggs, is misleading.
If you really want pink eggs, get white eggs and some dye . . .
Unfortunately, there are a fair number of breeders and hatcheries out there that are not above "bending" facts to make a few more sales. They come up with cutesy names like Mosaics or Midnight Marans just to promote more sales. I understand it is hard to make a go of selling chicks (I know that very well) but making up names to sell what are essentially "barnyard mixes" still seems wrong.
I have multiple colors and/or breeds of blue, green and dark brown layers, and those are real. The genetics of egg color fascinates me and is one of the main reasons I enjoy this hobby.
