Maybe it's the light, she doesn't look silver but a brown Webar. I missed the cuties and my son wants more since his best friend is getting chicks next week. But I feel 9 chickens in my 8x10 coop is already too many for me. One time I had 3 chickens sick in my basement. I don't know if I can handle more sick chickens like that. And I have to take at least 3 chicks together, so they always have friends. My chickens only bond with the ones that they grew up with. But if Dennis has the sexlinked Ameraucaunas, I have to get some chicks. My blue Ameraucauna, Hershey, from Meyers was friendly as a chick but skittish now, but she is a great layer that lays 6 large eggs per week. I promised my son to get him an black Ameraucauna when there is a chance.
I think it is the lighting. In chicks, the differences can be a little subtle, like head spots on sexlinked chicks. Those things are easiest to see in a mass of chicks, then the silver ones stand out against the golds. They get more and more obvious as they grow.

Hello Everyone! I've been a member for about a year I think, but haven't been real active and just heard of the State threads, so I'll be following the thread now. 😁 I'm in Royersford, anyone close?? :frow
Hello! Welcome to our little corner of the web. I'm even further away than One Mountain Acres. Always good to have new folks.

Okay, cool. Hi! Are those cream legbars in your profile picture?
Yes, I hatch them in fairly large numbers this time of year. I have been working on this like of Jill Rees Cream Legbars for about 6 or 7 years now. They are fantastic layers of blue eggs. I used to make a black sexlink hybrid with Ameraucanas to lay lots of blue eggs, but once the Legbars showed up, they are my principle blue egg layer now.
I also cross them with my Welbars to make Olive Eggers, probably my biggest seller of all my chicks.
My website is on my tagline, but it doesn't all show up on some devices, so here it is: http://welbars.com

Oh my gosh!! I just checked out your website. Awesome! I currently only have 4 lightish brown layers, a cream layer and one who lays a light green egg. You have most of the colors that I am looking for though. I would love an olive egger, a blue layer and a real, dark brown layer. Also, a pink layer would be cool. I actually just put in some eggs for the Easter hatch-a-long, but depending on how many actually hatch, I might have to pick up a few chickies from you.
