    It is a Disqualification (the dreaded DQ) in all breeds when showing.

    ETA: split wing is a gap between the primary and secondary feathers.

    Oh, ok! Thanks. Wasn't sure if the poor birds had broken wings, or if it was a color thing, or what!

    Sorry...terrified of hatching......you all made it sound fun....but I'm convinced I'm going to a. have a bator full of duds. b. cook all the babies or c. have WAY too many chicks in my brooder!
