i will try to explain without sounding nuts...

when my youngest daughter moved out, I claimed that room as the chicken room, ...hatching and brooding go on in that room..
Floor is pretty well stained up so no big deal with the carpet,,,,,I have huge sheets of thick plastic that i put on the floor then newspaper over the plastic,,,then the bedding (horse stall bedding) ,,right now I am using old dresser drawers for walls, normally I use hog panels that are set up tp be movable as the chicks grow....lights are on plant hangers from the ceiling with chains to be raised up as needed........It is literally a chicken room......told you I was nuts.....Did I earn the crazy chicken lady title yet....

i used cages at first, but the floor is so much easier to just scoop and clean........

Wow y'all post bunches! Trying to keep up! All the pictures are awesome! I adore gsd's! I have a long haired female ^^ I would someday perhaps consider getting an incubator and hatching eggs but I just don't think I'm able now xD so I content myself by lurking on here, hearing stories and seeing pictures ^^
Still really excited to have a date day at the farm show tomorrow! Convinced my Loverman it would be fun

so was there a meet up time or place?

How difficult is it to introduce new chickens to a flock? Do I just have to buy/build another coop/run?

Once quarantine is done, it is best if you are able to have the new ones in a cage/pen where everyone can meet without a fight. But, that is rarely practical, so be sure everyone is about the same size (no 4-week-olds with 12 -week -olds, etc.) and add the new chicks to the roost at night. Come morning, there will be pecking (pecking order) but I have yet to have a problem. Even introducing a new rooster to 2 others.

Do possums eat chickensj IDK but there was a pile of feathers. And no eggs in that Coop, pullet is still young, but there are a few roosters to protect her! And since I spent about $80 on eggs to get just one female anda bunch of roosters, I'd hate to loose them! (poor hatch rate on shipped eggs)

yes they do, also ducks if given half a chance, wild critters are not allowed around here anymore, everything wants to eat my babies(so what if they're grown, still my babies)
