i was going to email you this morning about it but thought you would soon get there, the two are kinda nasty aren't they, i know one is a top breeder and shows and the other is a vet but geeeh, bet they didn't start with the best of the best, but i do want to learn about the brahmas since i kinda like mine even if they aren't sq, but who cares

galgo.....Thanks, I heard back from the folks I got the eggs from and yes, they are most likely blue swedish, they only mark them mixed because they do have a few runners also..now for some research,,,,I have 1 blue swedish and 1 peking....they are very different is size...my original plan was for ancona and silver appleyard...but I will work with what I got for now..

Have Fun at the farm show, those crowds today would just make me very irritable.......not a people person to begin with...

My farm show plans are in august,,,,,we always go up to ag progress days in penn state....outside with breathing room....we stay at the cabin all week, so there's room if any one wants to go up there and not make the drive all in one day... (warning...nothing fancy,,,there's electric, but limited running water, hot water is ran from the spring and heated on a gas stove,,,,but hey it is a cabin ))

a few meat bird projects
2 EE I think,, they were green eggs anyway..
...I have not gotten a final count yet, only lost 1 so far, didn't look good from the start though...
Oh and the 7 quail..

And all this time hubby was saying no ducks.....he has named them ducky and abby...can you tell what he watches on tv.....

Hint for Sally the research quenn,, I hate doing research, what can you tell me about these 2 ducks.....and also galgo and sharon i think you both have ducks, if I stay with these 2 breeds since it is what I got will they meet the need of both eggs and meat..preferably broody also

Wing- you'll be close, I mean in the nearer-proxcimity to us if your cabin is in the state-college area..we are about 45mins/to an hour from the stadium...and I think the farther north you head- the more you MUST drink!!

I have been looking, and cannot find my answer. Penny is a 9 -month -old Columbian Rock Cross. She lays about five days, off one. I have not seen an egg for her in about a week. I considered that she may have taken to laying on the floor (with some of the newbies), but the past 2 days she has been in the nest box. She doesn't seem stressed (struggling) and she comes out within a few minutes of my being in there. No egg. I checked her for being egg bound. Nothing. She is missing some feathers, but it looks like she is being mounted too much. I don't see mites. Could she be thinking of going broody? It is the only thing I have read that is left for an answer. The odd thing being that the most eggs are on the floor in the corner. Wouldn't she be laying there? That is where she (and the hens I had) was laying several months ago before I got new nest boxes (and put them where the 2-month-olds wouldn't be running around!).

MC,

Could just be the weather & decreased day light. It has been awful cold here lately. As long as she seems her usual self, I am sure that is all it is. Give her a couple of weeks. I only have one laying right now. Good old Tara gives me 1 a day.

ohhhh! No wonder I couldn't find you! Missy came, but I never saw her either. Was crazy busy today, PACKED! I will be going back on a weekday in order to avoid the crowds.
