Woman, you are not helping me resist!! Isn't it bad enough that if my 2 blue layers don't start laying soon (my only 2 hold outs!!) and the Marans don't start giving me dark eggs I am going to have to come buy more birds off you?!? REPHRASE!! I will buy CHICKENS! JUST CHICKENS!!!

Will the Marans eggs get darker, or are mine duds? Today the egg was like a good RIR. I only saw a difference when I was using camera flash.
Here it is the shiny one, top row, second from the right.

Here you can see it is the more chocolate one.


If I have duds, I will be buying more. Then I will hope that any babies that hatch will lay darker. Chicken math is such a hardship!! LOL!

I'm telling you McC... ya need some green and I have the eggs if you have the incubator! LOL... delivered, no charge, just think of the satisfaction of hatching your own!

So i posted this in another thread but i wanted to get some more opinions and i know this thread moves fairly quickly....we had a chick hatch today and don't know if anymore will hatch....we have two chicks that are 4 weeks old...how could we include this baby chick with the older chicks so it doesn't get lonely

I really don't think you can. Maybe you should drive to Polk, Ohio and get a few chicks from Meyer. That or get 6 from Tractor Supply or a feed mill.

I would add her and just watch them, I havent had an issue adding at this age. Just make sure the baby can run eat and drink on its own very well. Watch them though!
