Motherhen: I would PM Heatherscooby77 and ask her. She is very smart about these things. My solution is always Tylan, for everything (but it shouldn't be).

Ok, that's what I wondered. My father LOVES quail. I thought about raising some for him. Will you butcher or will someone do it for you?
WOW! I wish I could do that. Just starting now with certain breeds of chickens I don't mind raising for meat, but don't know how to butcher myself. I take em to a guy and pay per bird.I do my own chickens, so I'll do these as well. I've always hunted, trapped and fished, skinning and cleaning is no big deal for me.
I took my 1 girl to an avirian vet, see if you have one out your way, it seems so hard to figure out what could be wrong! She was able to tell me right away what was wrong! Hope everything works out, good luck!Hi everyone. can you PLEASE look at my post above and let me know. I am kinda freaking out a little here. Not sure what to do with her. Thanks!!!

Quote: I have a list of "every" avian vet in the U.S. If you don't find one, tell me what area you are in, and I will look (PM me).
Delco here! Born n raised. Stakes too!Hello! Delware County here, just south of Philly. I have no chickens yet, but I hope to get started in May. I've been reading what I can, but of course I still feel a little clueless. I'm not equipped to build my own coop, so I'll likely be purchasing one. THIS ONE on Amazon seems to get good reviews and looks like it should do the job for 3 hens which is what I plan to have. Does anyone know of a fairly local (not crazy expensive) place to check out and purchase a coop? I'd really like one of the "tractor" types with wheels to move it around the yard easily, but I haven't found one that looks to be of good quality without costing too much. As for the breed of chickens, THIS ARTICLE has really sold me on the Buff Orpingtons. I need the chickens to be as kid-friendly as possible. It does mention that they may be kind of loud... how loud are we talking here? Is it constant loud noise? Occasional? Just trying to get the best understanding ahead of time to make the best choices. Is there a good local spot to get my chickens from? Any help is appreciated!
This is excellent!!
Welcome! You've come to the right place for finding out info. Also....the best place to learn chicken math. To find who is close to you, check the link in my signature.Hello! Or color of chicken....or any other number of things. Some chickens really make no noise what so every. When they get in numbers the noises start. And when you have a rooster. The lil hens would do great for you and you could get almost any breed you want it all depends on the color of egg you want.
Much yummier meal!I had to go back through and figure out what was different... I was to busy looking at his bare chest.... Mmmm. Chicken? What chicken? I'm seeing beefcake! LOL!
Welcome!!! This is the perfect place to come learn! However I will warn you that they are serious about being enablers. I wanted 12 hens. I now have 15 chicks with more on the way!
Nope, no enablers here....Us? Serious? I try not to be. Enablers? Never! (btw, 150 various eggs in lockdown, time to chill beverages for hatch watch)
There's a chicken in the middle of a perfectly good pic!
Me3!i like him better without the chicken![]()
And the 5 before that? Not true! Least person left here with only two chickens! And five chicks.
I believe galgo has call ducks...least she keeps trying to talk me into them.Does anyone on here have/ selling call ducks?
OMG!You'd waste your days putting tiny snowshoes on all your chickens, and not get anything else done. If snow wasn't so irritating, NY is the place to buy a farm.
x2 - just don't tell hubby that's the reason I'd really be going. "Yes, dear... I am going for a new c.... I mean, rooster."![]()
I did mine a non-traditional way...I added a few every week or so as they got to a certain size. They seem to have accepted each other well.Flock Combination question. Older flock; 2 wyandotte, 6 bantams and 3 cochin roos. Young flock; 6 RIR, 2 leghorns, 1 serama, 2 mallard ducks, 2 pekin ducks, and 4 red bourbon turkeys. Everything is a couple months old. My coup is divided into 2 sections with wire mesh in between. Both sides have their own run and the younger birds have a heat lamp in case it gets cold. How long do I leave them separate? When I do combine them, do I do everyone at once or a couple at a time? Any other tips for combining flocks?
Only 2?"Honey I am back from the York Show and I have 2 chicks, a few scratch marks, 1 bite mark perhaps 2, and $83!"
Chad has offered to do a class/mass butchering at his place.WOW! I wish I could do that. Just starting now with certain breeds of chickens I don't mind raising for meat, but don't know how to butcher myself. I take em to a guy and pay per bird.
Sometimes a bitemark is just the sign you need.I am so sorry! I didn't mean to bite you so hard!
