I'll be keeping some Marans for breeding for next year, the rest are for sale. They are about 8-9 weeks old. I have a quad of OEGB. SDW roo over SDW, Ginger & Wheaten hens. I'll be putting some of their eggs in in a few days if no one claims them. The quad is actually for sale as I am looking to get out of them & have sold off most of my stock. I had about 30 of them at 1 point in time, all quads & trios of different colors. I'll only be keeping my fiance's little Brown Red roo that hatched the beginning of January. Silly man walks around with it on his shoulder like a parrot.

I have no problem taking cull marans girls if you end up with any, I'm interested in them for eggs and OE making I'm almost considering grabbing those standard frizzles from Sandihill next year, I want Frizzle EEs! I'm maxed out on bantam breeds for this year (Wheaten Ameraucana bantams, White silkies and Blue crested EE bantams (Wheaten Ameraucana roo over Splash silkie hen)), but some year I want to acquire some OEGB! My favorite variety is Blue golden duckwing, so they should a pain in the butt to find!

I'll be picking my keepers out next week & should have about 6-7 for sale. I try not to keep too many birds any longer than I have to. My fiance wants to get out of chickens all except for the layers & go to all waterfowl. NOT gonna happen, but I AM cutting way back on the chickens. If he doesn't like it, too bad for him. The birds were here before him & it's MY money that pays for them.

Brandy is distilled wine (increased alcohol content). Wine made from fruit is fruit wine.

Different yeasts have different flavor profiles. Champagne yeast tends to ferment to dry while some others leave some residual sweetness. Some are better to use with fruit to maintain fruitiness, some best for certain wine styles, some for cider, some for Mead. Same holds true for beer yeasts. I normally keep for or six different basic yeasts on hand just in case something comes along.

Chad, did you try the beer bottles of spiced hard cider?

For hatching eggs I have Pekin ducks, Calls, Runners, Toulouse, Scovies, EE bantams, LF Layers covered by EE roo, OEGB, Cochin mix. Chicks currently in the brooder: RIR, BR, BA, BO, EE, OE, BCM, BlueCM, Rainbow Layers, ISA Brown, Black Star, Red Star, Cream Legbar, Speckled Sussex, buff brahma bantam, LF Cochin, partridge rock, wellsumer, red broilers, black broilers, white cornish X broilers & probably a few others I have forgotten.
