Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Yesterday morning I turned on the faucet outside (yeay!) and washed all the gross things that I refused to bring into my house over the winter (yeay!).
I filled the big waterer without having to fight with filling a bucket inside, and hauling to the coop (yeay!). I shot cat poop across the yard (giggle) and off the sidewalk.
I washed the car, and got the gravel out of the driveway (Gravel is dangerous to bikers!! YEAY!!!). Then my husband came home, and on our way to Altoona (

Outback! Yeay!) he asked, "Would you be interested in an incubator?"

Apparently the woman had used it once, fried her duck eggs, and put it in the closet. If he gets it, I will DEFINITELY be here asking a million questions (I think I know what I am doing, but the first time is gonna be scary!

).
So, I had an awesome day yesterday (oh, and I bought a fishing net)!!
Don't do it!!! I am all ready thinking about, what do I do after these hatch!!! I know, Give the Incubator back to Rhea/Pentamom ASAP!!!! LOL

So, I found a breeder that has 4 of the breeds I am still looking for. Cream legbars, barn elder, basque and crele polish. So if I build an incubator, I will be hatching some of these out! After a test hatch of course. Problem is, she is in CA. Is it too risky for me to attempt hatching eggs shipped that far? The eggs won't be cheap. I don't want get my hopes up or set my self up for failure and lose them.

Quote: Yep !!! will be shipping as soon as this crazy weather settles down,,,,I thought about trying to get some from silkie also, maybe have 2 different gene pools to gather from, but wasn't sure how much you wanted to take on ...
seen that......looks like a middle man, would rather find the source
Note to self...... NEVER wait this long to clean out chicken coop..... Not sure when it was done last, but it was too long!!!! My sinuses will never be the same

know the feeling, I have 1 more to do, hopefully will finish up this weekend.
Quote: marked june 22 on calendar, this day seems to work for most.
Quote: maybe another member close to you can hatch them.
Quote: I can not even imagine the withdrawal you went thru.
Quote: relax, unless it is out for a long time, ,,,,keep incubator closed...they will be fine for a couple hours,,,,might delay hatch a day though.

I have a couple spare roos at the moment, but need to see if I get any pullets from this hatch before I can promise any out.

OH silkieSensation!! I just visited your page, and posted a comment!! Purple EGGS!! Oh I gotta get me some of those!! WHAT AM I DOING!!! hahahahah!!! I have too my chickens all ready, just got rid of my Roo, feel terrible about that!! hatching 12, they are all developing it looks like, and 12 in the barn.... i better get this run completed this weekend.. so they have more room.. or extend the coop to be the entire 20x20ft barn.. I only have a 1/4 of that sectioned off for them at the moment,, then the run that should fix the room problem anyways..
