there's soo much going on that weekend, I would have to clone myself,,,,wouldn't you want a couple of me running around
no....
Quote: you know you want these chad!!!
Quote: You have read correctly!

My White Faced Spanish are getting huge, and so are my Spitz. Must separate soon. I have a game plan and sticking to it!
you want to fill us in on this plan, so we can stop you from getting off track,,,we may be enablers, but we also support plans.

Wing- yes, I got Sally's Ancona ducks. I was planning on raising Pekin ducks, but my one was murdered by a low down dirty critter. I was on schedule with my Pekins to have eggs this summer. After losing my one Pekin, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Of course Sally solved my problem. Thanks again Sally. Now I am back to my old plan, but with a different breed. The more research I did on the Ancona the more I wanted them.
Your Ancona and Silver Appleyard eggs go into lock-down tonight. I am going to candle before lock-down, but at last candling there were 8 of each that were looking good. If all goes well there will be little duckies running around this weekend.

I write hatch date on the end of each egg before setting. No more errors unless I forget to look at eggs while turning.

If you have more than 2 hatch dates set at once you will never remember. I have adout 10 dates right now running in 3 bators. I HAVE to write the dates ON the eggs or they get all mixed up.
I don't hand turn mine. THAT would give me plenty of chances to screw up if I did.

I have a cabinet incubator that holds 2 trays of up to 40 eggs per turner rack. There are 3 racks, so I can have up to 6 different dates going at a time, while still keeping each hatch date on it's own tray. New trays start on the top, and move down towards the hatcher as the weeks go on. As long as I can keep track of which tray is which, I'm fine. That's where the little notes of set date tucked in to each tray come in.

When I mark the set date on the calendar, I've started to note how many of each kind, like this: 6 amer, 11 marans, 11 fav or whatever. That way I have a double check of what's actually on the tray that's supposed to get moved into the hatcher..

This setup works well as long as all the eggs take 21 days. Now that I have a batch of duck eggs going, and turkey eggs coming next week, we'll see....

Quote: It may not appear that way to some, but i have stuck to my plan also,,,ducks don't count,,,my vietnamese customers would come pick them all up with a phone call...
as soon as that darn plucker gets here, i will have alot less roo's.....so how hard will it be to get this thing off the truck,,,,we paid to have it delivered directly to the farm, but hubby refused to pay another hundred to have them unload it, he says well it is only 175 ounds packed weight,,,I sure hope this is not a disaster.

are you interested in any of the ones that hatched so far,,,,brabanter at joan's and d'anver here,,,4 of each.....you 2 get first picks..

Does anyone make their own ACV? (Besides me). Just curious how much making it yourself saved, s I only ever bought one bottle.. Apple cider is about $7 a gallon and makes just less than a gallon of vinegar. Am I wasting my time?

Goats-2
Blarney-1

Translation: upgrade in fence charger on Saturday has kept ONE goat in, YAY! Although....the other 2 are eating my landscape:(

New grounding rods went in last night....although I think I hear a visitor clip clopping on the deck right now.

I REFUSE to give up! There is a poop free deck in my future, I just know it!!

and on an unrelated note, Fisherlady, any news on the pup? Have you considered 'Mork' for a name? Hee hee.
