They are going on 3 weeks old and are huge...........I am going to have to move them outside in our lil coop, to make room for the new chickies.
Welcome... I was originally from Northern Butler Co. A KC Gremlin here!
I won something! It's a mystery box, even better! Over on the Turkey hatch-a-long. For "poetry", no less.

Just had to brag to someone!
Congrats!!!
Me too lol!!! I have 70 little ones right now some need to go sorry meant chickies lol
We will be glad when we get some of ours processed next month...nice to have more elbow room

He had a lot of fun. Ya never know he may decide to do more showing than he's shown interest in so far

(his cousins have put him off a tad with their stories from horse shows lol). Mommy needs to go to the meetings without money, we came home with 4 BCMs, 2 Wheaten Ameracuanas and are waiting on 4 EEs from her bator. I have some people willing to take roos if we have extra. I really only want 4, including your lil guy. I have a few back up plans that don't include culling if I have more than I want, namely extra runs/coops. On a side note my son definitely gets his sense of humor (irony?) from me. We're coming home from the meeting (with the chicks in a box on the front seat) and he picked KFC for dinner...

Wow, great choices!! I love Wheaten Ameraucanas, there's such a dramatic difference between the ladies and the boys :) this also makes them easier to sex at a young age!

He did, most of what they went over was for rabbits, but they had "bathing your chicken," filling out the forms for the fair, and will have showman ship for both bunnies and chickens at the next meeting. He's so excited, even though he's too young to show this year.

Not I, but it sounds interesting. Could I please have the instructions as well?
Glad he enjoyed his time. We didn't have one near us- and absolutely! will inbox you the directions. It's actually quite easy.

Debating if that's a good thing or a bad thing

. I've been warned that if I have more than 50 when my fiance gets back from this deployment I may be single again (I should be at 47 by the end of the month), again debating bad vs good at times

.... The good news is my meaties will be in the freezer by then and I have several people that want some of my tetras, leghorns or New Hampshires once they've grown a bit more and are closer to laying. So that'll free up some currently filled slots hehehe

Oh my. Deployment...you NEED a lotta chickies a to keep you busy and your mind occupied.

FF HOT WATER NO STRAIN METHOD....

I will add that DH wasn't happy about helping me to video and I also grabbed the first audio on the list!
And DH made me take out the comment about why I don't use whole grains,
you know that whole ever eat corn and see what comes back out? LMAO!

This is a question from another thread "Today I need to add more feed. I swear I read you need to leave 1/2" to an inch of water on top. I guess not."

my comment.....
REMEMBER this is the HOT WATER, NO STRAIN method! instead of all that water on top, it settles at the bottom because of the "loaf" on top! so the bottom of the feed will always be wetter than the top and hold some of the brewing juices needed for next batch! Just always leave about 4" in the pot after you pull your feed to use for your next batch!

We did it this way over the winter while the hose was full of ice. Ended up being harder for us this way because there's no hot water faucet in the basement & we had to carry several buckets of hot water from the bathroom on 1 side of the house, all the way through the house to the door & then down the hill to the basement at the front of the house to get to the buckets. We don't have an interior basement staircase either.

It's easier for us to just use the hose run through the basement door & thicken it about 10-15 minutes before feeding to reduce straining. I run 4 buckets of feed at a time & we use nearly all every day. I need to unload some birds.

That's my method, except I use dry yeast and I feed the entire thing. I don't muckaround with leaving buckets of stuff around.

Betta doesn't that get costly or is the yeast cheaper than reg bread yeast? I couldn't believe the cost of bread yeast in the store when Ariel gave me that bread recipe!
