Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Pics or it didn't happen.

Here they are. They wont walk through the big chicks legs for the camera, but they look cute here anyways.

The older ones were two weeks old here, and the new chicks about two days? Beulah is on the right and Hortense on the left in the first two pictures and Mavis is the darker chick in the last two.

That's where I got my girls!!! lol. I was told they are two different breeds though.

Haha, me too! EEs are just mutts with Ameraucana blood in them that usually lay blue eggs. And I've never gotten purebred Ameraucanas from the feed store. I think they order from hatcheries that mislabel their EE chicks as Ameraucanas. Apparently, it's pretty common. Unfortunately, we got EEs from Apollo Milling two years ago and they lay brown eggs, so we're hoping for blue, green, or olive this year. Every once in a while one of them will lay a pink egg, though.

Gonna be busy the next two days. Taking care of the chicks, the Renaissance craft fair in town and a birthday party for the future BIL tomorrow and then Cabela's and picking up 2 new boys on Sunday.

I have both!!!

An EE is anything crossed with an Ameraucana or Legbar (any pure breed blue egger) to produce a blue or green egg. An OE is an Ameraucana, Legbar (any blue egger) or EE crossed with a chocolate layer (Marans, Welsumer, etc) to make an olive or khaki colored egg.

Quote: Not all EE will throw blue or green. Some will throw pink, purple, tan or brown.

Good morning from Slippery Rock! A little surgery planned today on those two mystery lumps on one of my girls, convincing the dear hubby that, YES, he will be changing the Cornish X bedding today and on the hunt for a goat/calf hut. Plus my soil arrived at the hardware store. Happy Saturday!
