Thank you! They are still mostly just sleeping. I can't wait till they start jumping around all the time. DH is working on the fence, and I've been trying to clear the area they're, for them to have more clearance for play.

I have four pullets now, so getting back to my farm girl roots a bit.
Downsized my horse to Great Danes... But still want goats, a donkey, and a cow someday...

Mmm I love those too! Beef heart cooked soft with a nice brown gravy! And there's a pub in Watsontown that has as a pub nibbler pickled beef tongue with crackers.

I'm not going to pickle it though. In my wonderful 70 some yr old German, and Polish cookbooks there are recipes for many ways to prepare it. And it's not the way they "prepared" it on the Cosby show (oh boy showing my age with that comment)... I just need to make sure I follow the English directions, and not try remembering German or Polish while cooking...

Chad, sorry you are bummed! Martha, I am in love with your goats!!! They are so cute I can't stand it.

I keep saying I am shutting off the bator. My "last" hatch is on 7/2. But............................ My turn finally came up on some eggs I have been waiting for since fall of 2012! So, bator gets to stay on. I am only on one other waiting list. That is for peeps. So after the Blue Andalusian eggs hatch, then the bator is going OFF!!!!!

I have a lot of black mottled cochin cockerels available. They make awesome 4-H projects if anyone is interested. These are possibly breeder quality, they need to age a little longer to be sure.

Do we know wingstone's cute kilter yet? Knowing the area, I'm quessing fox or Coon babies. Possibly coyote, but she'd have heard them around. Bear are very rare here, normally just pass through following train tracks (although she isn't that far from them, still unlikely). And yes, the bear follow the railroad, strange, but true.

Oh NICE! This is why my runs all have netting over them for anything small enough to be carried off. Guess the netting wouldn't work for your 1 acre run though.

let's see if this old computer will work,,,,I keep an old dell laptop at the farm just for reading camera cards,,,,,has to many problems to use otherwise,,,,,would not let me save from the card...

everytime I came across a fresh kill it was in the morning after work....I was not missing it by much...(after a head count, we lost 5, I only knew about 3 )...since my birds would feast on what was left I was having problems figuring this out....checked all fence line and found nothing....seemed like the head was taken first in most cases,,,I was really thinking possum since I have been seeing them rather close.....so I moved the camera to see where it was coming in at....I checked the card and never found anything after last 2 kills... well yesterday when I had more time I sat down to check the camera card 1 more time before I erased it,,,,that is when I noticed this 1 pic and stopped...."hey,, that is not one of my birds "...........weird because this pen is designed with hawks in mind....no large area for them to swoop in,,,lots of weeds and brush for cover...this pen never had an attack in the 5 years it has been used,,,,,,,..

the only thing recently changed that would be near this pen is our butchering area,,,,maybe we are leaving to much blood behind and the wilds are detecting that..
