Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Ok, I have a non-bird related question. Gavin wants me to make the Christmas gifts for the female family members this year and I'm trying to figure out if I should go with afghans/bedspreads, socks, or something else. I'll be either knitting or crocheting the gifts and there are 4 nieces, 1 SIL, 1 MIL, 1 grandmother in-law, my mom and sister. Any input or ideas would be appreciated.

Love my hand knitted soft scarves, actually a great gift from my MIL, and I think I score points when she sees me wearing it.
I have a great afghan from her too, but can't bring mysf to use it much... Once it gets near the dog his short stiff black hair gets in the white fibers and its all over...

One or two small storms, and I got one!! Temp dropped 15 degrees but humidity got even worse. Chickens ran out in the rain to play like little kids! Of course it will pass and get even more miserable.
The one last night was short lived (about 45 mins) but cooled it about 20 degrees which was SOOOOOOOO nice, it was far enough on the radar for me to go get the chickens but it seems to just zoom fast at us cause no sooner I got outside there was lightning everywhere, wind and rain - all with me trying to get the chickens in their coop.

Fingers crossed it doesn't heat back up too bad where you are - I am hoping it rains again later this afternoon - my child is driving me nuts being inside all the time but he can't go out for long periods as he doesn't do well at all in the heat.

I'm must be strange (OK, I am). I don't put my chickens in when it storms. Their coop is always open during the day, they actually seem to like to come out in the rain. I think its cooling, or they just take after me and are strange.
lol - well where they are is surrounded by trees, I could leave them out but don't want to take the chance that a branch breaks off and one or more get hurt. I do leave the wired up end of their cage open so they see the lightning, hear the sounds etc

its pouring here right now, first we got such thunder, didn't see lightning but the thunder really was loud and all around us, now like i said, its pouring, sounded like hail at first it was raining so hard, big drops. sure hope it cools things down, never thought i would say that either, i love hot weather, hate cold and snow.

I close the main doors to my coops when it's about to rain but the chicken entrance is open. Generally, they run inside when it starts to storm but I don't much care if they get wet in t he rain or not.

I heard that storm slipping by us here in North Huntingdon. Loud thunder and saw lightning in the distance. Passed us by slightly to the south. I'm hearing a lot of thunder again right now.
