yes I noticed less eggs and more feathers in the coop, I actually had one of my eggs starting to develope with out help from sitting in the corner of the coop I over looked it I guess and went to have breakfast and there it was vaining when I cracked it open:eek:
Just got home from vacation. Dh said only one leghorn has been laying and one silkie. Hopefully with the temps going down this week they will start laying again.
todays rant....its an awful year for gardening....everything is late or not producing at all....the only thing growing well is Kale and the chicks won't touch it....duh
My tomato plants have blight. I finally got one huge red tomorrow today.picked it and a huge bug made it its home :(. I did get my first huge zucchini. I'm making zucchini bread tomorrow. Yummy! Lots of green beans to pick and a to of butternut squash growing. My pepper and lettuce plants aren't doing well :( boo!
Ok, I have a non-bird related question. Gavin wants me to make the Christmas gifts for the female family members this year and I'm trying to figure out if I should go with afghans/bedspreads, socks, or something else. I'll be either knitting or crocheting the gifts and there are 4 nieces, 1 SIL, 1 MIL, 1 grandmother in-law, my mom and sister. Any input or ideas would be appreciated.
My MiL has several free iBooks for crochet patterns. Best sellers! Not sure how old your nieces are but she made my girls headbands with detachable flowers so they can match them to their outfits. Indoor snowball kit. They played with it all winter! A poncho for me and the girls (ill post a pic of one similar. Don't have any of the ones she made and I packed them away for the summer). Love the scarves and mittens she made for us. http://priscillascrochet.net/freepatterns.html

(each bad has crocheted snowballs. The kids love it. The pattern is in her free iBook posted on her site) Not her pattern but the inspiration for the one I wanted

Wow, nothing says "Enjoy your heat and humidity" more than the now lingering smell of animal crap in the air - thank you Mr Farmer down the road

Normally I don't mind it but it is just hanging in the air *gag*
I have the same problem. My neighbor has cows. The smell is horrible when it's this hot or right after the snow melts and the smell is let free. *gag* I had a great time visiting my sister but happy to be home. The 3 baby chicks joined the bigger chicks out in the garage. Separate cages but right next to each other so hopefully they will all become friends. They got soooo big this past week. Now I want new hatching eggs.....or chicks. Can anyone help? Looking for Easter Eggers, serama, frizzled chicks, black copper marans. I really want a colorful egg basket. Any other breeds I should consider?

Ok this is an odd question ... you know those small little centipede looking things - they are all outside around where my dog is - she is laying out on the concrete .... they can't hurt her can they??

Here are some more pictures I found. She made the hats and the headbands with the detachable flowers

I hate to ask, but do you have Leghorns? After a year of not seeing white eggs, I am actually glad to have them. It makes me feel nostalgic.

Yes, 2 of them and usually my best layers except for this past week. Still hoping my silkies will go broody at some point and I will give them a few leghorn eggs to hatch.
