So excited
Now to learn how to bath the chickens...LOL

I like your stories, I would stick to them also...I am very happy with the bresse so far, i have lots of eggs in the bator if you should decide on a few more
I would just need to have a yukon in there, is there a yellow one?

Closest to a yellow/gold we have is Butterfinger the EE roo, he has yellowish/light carmel hackles/neck. Gavin's already trying to decide what seasoning or sauce he wants to put on him...that's my boy :D lol

You guys are SOOOO much more creative with names than I am! My named birds are: Dinner, Splash, Bleu,Wynonna (wyandotte), Duck, Drake (note only 2 out of 6 ducks named), Kellog (wellie roo), RoadRunner (brown leghorn roo) Twindiot (the other leghorn roo), Goldie (golden sebright hen) and Little Ba*stard, he rushed DH for the first time the other night....not a smart move. If he weren't a sebright roo (not that I need him, I have Dinner afterall) he'd go to freezer camp...and he still may.

It wasn't the ammo or the number of guns, it was the lights and holsters and every other accessory, that I thought were over kill. Now I'm very glad for most of them, except that I need to figure out where to put everything until we get some repairs done on the house. He just had another 1000 rounds delivered the other day.

With the ducks only our pekin crosses have been named, as for the mallards Gavin just calls them the "flying squad." Although I did catch him calling them pekin, roasted and orange after he saw some recipes I was looking up.
Gavin's the main namer, mine are just named after booze, forgot I named Rosa and Luna too lol. He's named 2 after Indy side kicks, Marion and Short Round (our splash bantam orp). Copper after the color of his hackles and The Fox and the Hound. Lee and Noel were from a unisex baby name list. Peanut got her name because she was the runt of the NH when we brought them home, she was so slow to feather I was sure she was a he. Oinker (a black bantam orp) is kinda obvious, he's waiting to be sure about the sex of the other bantam orps before he names them. Most of our birds are not named, too many, not enough color differences, and I don't feel like keeping up with 50 (or more) zip tie leg bands and a color/name chart. lol

On the subject of naming chickens, a few of mine are named by my kids. I have Cloudy, Kisses, Coo Coo 1 and Coo Coo 2 (1 is a tetra tint and the other is a RIR), furball and my Australorp roo is Ballentine. All the rest of the names are subject to change from one minute to the next.

I am in need of finding a home for my two lemon cuckoo orpington roosters. They are double barred. In fear of township ordinances & my husband suggesting a BBQ I am hoping someone can use them for breeding or for flock protection. I have one that loves attention & sits on my lap. Never thought I would be so attached to chickens. I'm tearing up as I'm posting this. Crazy huh? Please PM if your interested. My zip is 17339.

I hope someone with experience can help me understand my broody or maybe not so broody hen. She sat in her nest all day yesterday and last night when I checked on her. This morning she wasn't in her nest but there was an egg in there. I went out twice since then and she is in the nest but kicked the egg out. The rest of the chickens are free ranging and she is still sitting tight in the nest. What is her deal? Is this normal broody behavior? The egg she kicked out was from the other silkie not her own.
