I just wanted a couple different opinions on this:

I have a 12 week old sebright rooster in with my standard hens. He's the bottom of the pecking order and often has to sleep on the floor. He wanders around by himself a lot, and just seems depressed. He's a slow maturing, very nice little guy. If I got him a few bantam hens for his own, do you think he'd be happier? Or become a jerk?
besides the fact that all men can be jerks,,,,it sounds like it might just be his personality, and he is young yet,,,,i find that those little guys tend to grow up and be very standoffish

I need quail pens in a hurry and no time to build so I am looking for chicken crates to use as quail pens,,, does anyone know where I can get about 10 of them, preferably open bottom with doors on top and side... plastic would probably work better......will travel with in reason for the right price,,,,Stromberg's is asking $75 for what I would want,,,that's a little to pricey for temporary cages

Ah... a house without kids.  I love it.  I hate getting up with the kids in the morning and I hate the calls about Devon being bad, but I love not having them here.  Thank goodness for school.

I feel the same way! Lol

So, i moved my momma's and their 12 babies to a larger pen. They all seem happy with the change. They now are on the ground instead of being in the rabbit hutch. Although the babies have no clue what a ramp is or how to use it so i hope the momma's teach them.

How old are the chicks and are they in with larger birds? I'm nervous about moving the chicks back in with the big girls since they attacked them. I know it won't be for awhile but I'm a worry wart!!! lol

Oh, and since they are in a dog crate right now. When will the Mama want to take them out? I don't want to keep them cooped up and when the time comes I will make sure the other birds aren't out yet. Just need an approximate age. Thanks!

I had separated my broodies and my other birds right after or while they were hatching. They still are not with the other birds. Mine have never hurt chicks but i don't like to take chances..

Thought I would share dome updated pics of my babies. They are 4weeks now. The first pic is of my maybe roo.

They are soooo cute!

My Peeps, I only have 6 RIR's. All hens. Not planning on getting a rooster. The wife only humors me to a certain extent. Lol.
Boo!!! Tell her we only have so many members on this side of the state and I need people to swap or buy from! lol. I had another package come today and my hubby said, "those better not be more eggs!" lol!
