Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello Pennsylvania folks! We just got our first chickens this weekend, and we are very happy with our instant mini-flock. After reading and researching for months, I am suddenly hearing lots and lots during the past week about weasels. I didn't even know we had weasels in Pennsylvania. I have never seen one or heard anything about them. So the question is: do we have weasels in SE Pennsylvania, and is this something I need to be woried about (as if hawks, racoons, and rats aren't enough)? Thanks!

Where did you get this from? Just wondering.

do you all think it is cold enough that one would consider putting Vaseline on the combs and wattles of your birds?

if not now.............when would you do so?
I would say not to put anything on until the temps start to stay below freezing for a long time like 3 days or longer. And if you have Pea comb birds no worry then they are made to take the cold like Buckeyes.

Chester Co here, where you located? ...only weasels I've run into are the two legged types....and, as fate would have it...only skunks I've run into have two legs also....humm...

The poop chart as Blarney said is a great tool for identification!! I have gone to that 'page' many times...it IS amazing what is normal....like Stake said though..kinda sounds like worms
hmm.png
...maybe do a poo-check or have one done if you can't...

....wearing him down..yes, yes i am..wearing him downnnn.....
yes, no grilling tho, at least not in winter,i sold betty, milk cow, cause i needed something to put into the freezer, didn't want to eat betty or nosie(heifer calf) plus too cold to stand outside
cool.png
and yes, down alot, i hatched out over a hundred this year, only keeping the best of the best, and only a couple of roosters to go with them, i have fallen in love with the brahma's, so sold my blrw's, and a heck of alot of roosters, i did keep five hens and one rooster of the coronation sussex's and three roosters and five hens of the mille Fleur's bantam cochins, in fact, still have about 6 to downsize, well maybe, 56 might be low enough

, bill doesn't mind, or if he does, afraid to say anything lol
