She is awfully pretty, does the rooster have to come with her? Or maybe a swap for a dorking...;)

has anyone on here ever eaten quail eggs or meat before?

if yes what was it like?

When I was younger, my mother used to make a dish with hardboiled quail eggs. (We usually got them in a can.)

Sautee onions and garlic with some butter, then add shrimp. Whe the shirmp is mostly cooked, add shelled peas (again from a can for us, I'd use frozen now if avaialable) and salt/pepper to taste. When I make it, I sometimes add tomatoes, depending on whether I have them or not. (Or if I started cooking in the stainless steel vs the cast iron.) Tasty.

The quail eggs were a non-event from a flavor stand point. A teensy bit more earthy than a chicken egg would be, but the dominant flavor in this dish is by far the shrimp.

If you wanted to try them, they're readily available both canned and fresh in Philly's chinatown.

looks like I better start building some quail cages quick!

I want to make them nice , of course.............luckily they don't have to be too big..............

glad to hear all your comments about the tasty eggs and meat.

These quail are something I think I will "process" ..........maybe not me directly..........but somehow by someone.........

I enjoyed the calendar quote too!

isn't funny how some comparisons with animals and humans ring so true!

have a good day everyone and Happy Spring.................Ritas water ice is free on the first day of spring............if you like!

thanks..................this sounds interesting. I may just check out china town................its been awhile since I was there. I used to go to the Reading terminal market often.

I was just talking to my DH about this. I have never been to the Reading Terminal Market. Hoping to go check it out soon. (Maybe Chinatown too!)

its fun and busy/ crowded. When I was working in the city........it was a nice place for a break..............not quiet, calm break............just a diversion.

lots of yummy food .

parking is a bear.

You gotta spend some time to find a meter or ideally take a train or other public transport in ............or parking will cost you a fortune.
you also gotta really watch your meter time...........parking tickets come quick and are also costly!

hope you go and enjoy.

I also enjoy eating in China town..............too many options in that area..............so it requires frequent visits to fully take in

I'm making progress with these babies! They're starting to trust my hands a little now as long as I have them stretched out and laying down on the floor. I had some stale bread crumbled up in my palm and all 4 EEs and one of the bantams jumping all over it and scratching and pecking like crazy! Little Chip still doesn't want anything to do with me yet and they still don't trust my hand up in the air but I feel like I'm getting somewhere at least :)
