Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Thank you! The chickens decided to do their "molt-thang" in the middle of all the crazy cold stuff this winter. It was pretty bad, I didn't know if My BL(Ginger) would make it..she would just sit there and look so out of it. She wouldn't eat, she would sit in the far end corner of the coop all pooffed up looking real bad. They eat like horses!! Can't wait to use the garden as supplement!!
I miss everyone here too!!

...Do you know if Green Dragon is open "Good"Friday?....Todd and I will be there that day if they are..would LOVE to bump into anyone willing to be there too!

This is the coolest thing! My mom gave this to me, she does the on-line auctions...great stuff at great prices!!! This was in a 'lot' she purchased...it is perfect for collecting eggs, and when not in use, it collapses for storage.

What an awesome find! AUGH I'll have to keep my eye out for one now! xD too cool
Kitten update...
Night had 8 kittens. The blue mackerel tabby died. She has 3 solid blacks, one black tortie, an orange that looks spotted tabby (the runt) and two tabbies (one classic and one mackerel) that may or may not be calico. They look like they have orange spots, but I really can't tell.

She had them back to back. She didn't take the time to help break sacs or clear noses. I am sure the one that died was the one I helped and was trying to clear his nose. He was in his sac the longest and I had to break it open because he wasn't able to. She did finally take care of the placentas. It took her until after 2pm. She kept resting. She's tired, hungry and dehydrated. She left them once already and I was concerned about whether or not she was going to go back to them. It took her a bit, but she did and gave me an evil look like I was trying to steal them.
my barn kitty had her first litter (5) in september. She was incredibly inept as well. Sorry for your struggles and I hope it all goes better. ^^ They sound adorable

Clearfield is 5 and a half hours from Southwestern Washington County. But nice of you to offer...were you going to smuggle these chicks in your jacket on the back of the bike?

Jryan! How nice of you to offer to transport pigs! My kinda guy!! Is your last name Ryan per chance?

Why yes it is!! Why do you ask

CC or silkie,  I need more info on the turkey eggs, like how many,  when,  what breed.

really wish I could get over this driving thing, panic attacks behind the wheel are real bad....I have chicks that I still need to get here, and now piglets that need to get here, still looking for anyone that may be going into maryland in may......how about you CC, care for a joint venture into swine....

I need to also make some decisions,,,, hubby says if I really want the piggies, I have to sell some birds,  his way of being sure that he will not end up taking care of them....

and also not sure where they will go, wonder how well pigs can live with messy ducks

I don't know about the smaller breed that you are getting... but the average bigger breeds would eat any chickens or ducks that move to slow near their pen.  A friend of mine has a boy who raises 4H pigs each year, and he routinely finds feathers in the pens from slow moving birds.

we used to raise hogs, it was a farrowing operation, we had three boar (weighed at 800 )  and average of 100 sows,   hence the reason , I want a small  easily managed breed,  I have been ran over and bones broken more times than I care to admit..

barn has sat empty (except all the junk in it )  for well over 15 years now..

there just seems something so wrong about seeing the two words 'empty' and 'barn' used together.... that just isn't right!   therefore I think it needs to be filled to remove that vision from my head!:gig

I thought literally the exact same thing!! I was like, "Barn? EMPTY?"

seperating some mealworms this weekend, weather finally seems good for shipping, so all those waiting for them, look for them next week

Not that you care, but I got my first beetle about 2 weeks ago. It was all deformed so I just fed it to my hen. Then a BUNCH of others have hatched since then, and we'll have baby worms any time now! :) Mealworm farming is really interesting.

Grandpap died last night. There is high emotion right now. My great aunt (his youngest daughter) is so upset that she didn't get to see him before he died. She was looking for his DNR papers that Giesinger magically lost in his transfer. By the time she was ready to leave the house (without the papers) it was almost 8pm and she goes to bed at 9pm to get up at 3am to do chores and go to work.

I know I am having issues functioning this morning. On top of all of this, we keep losing water every day. I have a cat having kittens behind me and she hasn't a clue what she's doing. I had to deal with a chore that I have to do weekly for the elderly woman this morning. I have had enough this morning. I have been up since 5am and I still don't have my first coffee in me.

So sorry for your loss.

Humm, thats really funny,,,,no doubt from a large Irish family.....

Don't get me started on mini cows! I have been wanting them for a while!
Wing, how many pigs are going to market, and what are your thoughts on pigs on Hogs?
I am going to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz next Wednesday. If you (Wing and CC was it?) live along the way to Stake's, I can get the birds that ... Okay, I forget who has/wanted what. The person that wanted two breeds that two people have, but live too far away. If I can get them, and bring them this far, I can't possibly live too far from the person that wants them. Does all that make sense?
hahaha...!

I know this post is something separate but I drive to DC for work every 4 days. I just moved to York county so if that is somewhat close I could probably work something out with you. only thing is that I leave for work at 3:00 in the morning. PM me if you have any questions or would like and try to work something out.
omgosh...the traffic!! even if it is every 4 days, not something I would want to repeat on a regular basis..Last time we were down that way, DC...we were purchasing a Saxaphone at "Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center", for our oldest daughter(who is now 24!) ..this was ummm, about 8 years ago...we were just outside of the "busy stuff" and that was close enough for me, yeah buddy!!
