Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

So glad we are finally gonna get a few days with NO RAIN, NO SNOW! I'm ready for spring to be in full swing so I can get my gardens and flower beds going. I chicken run was finally dry enough to let my barred rocks out of the hen house and do some much need exploring. they moved into the hen house last weekend but they have refused to leave the door. so I took the point to place each one on the ground, they are loving it! It also gave me a chance to do a good cleaning inside! young chickens make such a mess when they wont leave the safe home

My little Chip has started trying to crow! It's so cute right now since he doesn't have his big boy voice yet lol. I wonder how long until Blue and Jewel (name change needed here) start trying too. I need opinions. If everyone else is a pullet that gives us 14 pullets and 3 roos. One roo is OEGB and he has a little OEGB girlie too. It's that a good ratio to have for fertility or too many roos?

Generally, you can have up to 10 hens with just 1 roo, some people say 8 for the heavier breeds. It's ok to have just a pair also, they will adapt. so you can separate your OEGB's and get purebred eggs from that hen, or let them run with the others and get mixed breeds.

Thanks that's what I was planning to do (not always though). My two other roos are both BCM. I have two BCM pullets and 4 EEs. I was hoping for good fertility with them for more marans and some olive eggers. My little OEGB won't really have much luck trying to mate with the big girls will he? I also have 2 gold comets, 2 SLW, 2 silkies and a mix whose eggs I really only will use to eat (unless someone wants a mix
