I know! There's some weird ones on there, just recently i saw an add for a job for "professional cuddling" or something like that. Whhhaaattt?? I hope you find someone local that can process for you, or teach. I lucked out when i was able to hook up with wingstone and learned from her, it was a great help.

It's not that I don't know how to process a bird, I'm just too lazy. It's easier to give them away and go buy a cut up chicken in the store. My sister has bad memories of us being forced to help when we were kids, so she's not interested either.

It only takes a couple minutes per bird....joking...

I am kind of like the grocery store only folks are getting their own birds back..

60 people in the whole country is nothing. Humans need to toughen up there immune systems.
Most live and act like Howie Mandel. Too bad it wasn't something deadly to cull the herd!

uuhhmmm??? what?  I know I am on meds (bad, bad tooth) but did I miss something?

I missed it also,

Although I agree that many people need to toughen up their immune systems.

I'm at it again. I swear I never learn! I ordered more eggs from eBay and fired up the incubator. Praying for a good hatch!

I have a few questions! I'm going to incubate some of my eggs too. My rooster is an Easter Egger who hatched from a greenish blue egg and the hens are white rocks (brown eggs). If I get any hens what color eggs will they lay?

I need some guesses on my Cochin and polish chick.

Hen or rooster??

I think the Polish is a pullet and the Cochin is a cockerel, maybe? Are his wattles red and prominent?

And I think the comment about 'culling the herd' has to do with the Salmonella out break.

Feel better Fisher, toothaches are the worst!

It is so hard to stop that incubation bug, isn't it? I know I need to slow down a lot. Does anyone want any chicks? I'll make my friends here a really sweet deal on some chicks

I agree the polish looks like a pullet, and I must say that is quite a crest she's got, or maybe it's the camera angle, but I like the looks of her.

Now I want polish chicks -- must stop this !!

I know, once you have the right setup and start processing, each bird only adds a little more work, but the setup and cleanup are significant.

It's not a bad little business for someone if they had the equipment and some training. This is the sort of small time, back yard business that we need more of, instead of boring people with minimum wage jobs that have no future. I guess I'm dreaming, I'd like to see a couple of teenagers in high school startup their own chicken processing business. Every few weeks, that take a Saturday and have people drop off their chickens in cages and a cooler with ice. I imagine they could make $100 for a few hours work.

Learn entrepreneurial skills and make a little cash by meeting a need in the community. I would gladly volunteer my time helping someone with the business side of this.

Need a closer view of the cochin's comb & it's age. Polish is a pullet.

Trying to picture what a "ton of Poliskies" might look like . . .
Not even gonna try googling that . . .

Confusing "need" and "want" is what got me where I am now (9 brooders full of various age chicks and guineas, referring to an earlier post).
What I truly "need" is more self-control, but clearly anyone with a "ton of Poliskies" doesn't have any of that to spare.
