Thank you Lisa!!..I am pretty much doing the same thing..the plants on the front porch are doing well...it's the plant out in the cutting garden...go figure, I would think a plant would do better with "no-limits"..hahaha, but what do I knowI am no expert on growing basil but what I do is working
I bought basil seeds ----organic ones................and then just put them in a container on my deck and they have grown very well. I pinch off the leaves and a bit of the stems when they start getting bigger..........someone told me that helps them grow better...........today I cut up the leaves etc that I picked and froze them in olive oil in an ice cube tray.
My deck is sunny............and they don't any special treatment.............I water everything about the same...........when they are dry.
the soil...........is miracle grow and vermiculite and peatmoss combo................hope this helps.......

Got back from Lanc. Co on Sunday, wow..being in the car for these trips is getting harder to do, I am getting old.
Not chicken related, but too cute not to post

I think she has the whole "Olivia Newton John" thing going on..."let's get physical"!! hahahaha
**Wing- I would have LOVED to stop by, but it just didn't work out this time. We will be down that way again in August. Maybe we can visit at that time.

I love visiting with my BYC friends...makes me feel "more-normal"...hahahaha
Last Saturday we met MC-Abi) & her "Caveman" at the Mackeyville greenhouse...there wasn't much left to buy, picked over real hard!! But we did enjoy ourselves.
MC is such a great friend...she even gave me a few eggs to put under my ever-lasting broody hen!! Such a great ENABLER..oh, I mean FRIEND!!

So, while I was away..a THIRD hen decided to go broody on us....keep in mind, I only have 6 laying hens...so, this really cuts into our egg count!!
I do believe though, with the set-up we have them in that two are "over-it" and now we are back to trying to "normalize" only one...hahaha, this is crazy....
The other two are able to be with the rest of the flock now, they aren't making a 'bee-line' to the nest boxes anymore...now the egg-waiting game

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!! So glad we have a few days here to dry out some.
To keep this post even more chicken related..here are the good-looking cornishX!!
Their feathers have come in really well, I have seen pics where they have spots missing and just look "haggard" , these guys look very nice!!..well, i think so anyway
