Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello everyone! Just an update, I posted about a week ago that my Leghorn had an "encounter" with the neighbors dog and is no longer with us. So @roseschicks told me I could buy one of hers as a replacement. WhenI got there she introduced me to chicken math. My two new additions ;) are bantam Langston mixes. They are from @msladyhawke originally. Do you have any more info on them? Love to know for curiousitys sake. The girls are named Flora and Fauna and I will post pics tomorrow.

Would you be willing to sell eggs from your Plymouth rocks, preferably white....I think Fisher Lady also has rocks, not sure of the colors.

I have Whites, Barred and Silver Pencil Rocks.... only adults right now are the SPRs, but lots of chicks running around which I will use to establish a group of 5 or 6 hens and a rooster of each.

Wing, I have you covered on a WR roo as soon as I figure out how many I have. I honestly have just let the little buggers go running around with their broody mamas. I only hatched out 6 or 7 of the WR but I am pretty sure the odds would be astronomic at having all but one be pullets! So we should have an extra to send your way. I know for sure I have an extra BR boy already and I am pretty sure there is an extra SPR boy too.

Right now we are on broody #16, and as soon as most of the chicks are big enough for me to know boys vs girls I will be selling all the extras. I have 5 hens currently on a mix of BR, Light sussex and White Leghorn eggs, though the fertility on the LH eggs was really poor, so may only end up with 4 or 5 to give the friend I am hatching them for.

It is fishing/camping season and DH and I are ready for these hens to give it a break! 5 of our current broodies are repeaters from earlier this year already.

Right now they are protesting a location move and refuse to lay. Once they start laying again I would sell eggs. I'm working on improving quality and hope to get a better trio or quad soon.

Hi K:

If you don't want to give then away thats kewl....but just curious....what do you want?

I've got 2 young cockerel (about 12 weeks) that I could let go for about $10 each plus shipping. They're good for everything but a good breeding program and fairly calm too

I know these are hatchery birds and not quite the same but here are the 30 some birds that hubby got from tsc, all in a grow out pen and about 11 weeks....I do not see any roosters, it should be evident by now,

Good for the egg business, but I need a rooster to keep the breed going.

Yes, I know the pen dedesperately needs cleaned

I run a ratio of 1 roo for every 8 to 10 hens for breeding my egg layers. Fewer hens when working with my sop stock.
