Thanks... I'm hoping I have the LH thing covered. I was lucky enough to be contacted by a BYC member who had a small flock of LHs and even luckier that they were looking for EE roosters so we were able to swap 2 of my 13 week old roosters that they needed for their 10 hens for the hatching eggs I needed. A super Win/Win in my book! My broodies are happily baking them as I type.
 
Would anyone happen to be interested in a black/blue copper marans cockerel? I ended up with 3 out of 4 being cockerels and can only keep 2 of them. He'd probably make a great olive egger roo. I say black/blue because he was a blue chick but feathered in dark. .. maybe he's dark blue lol. I want to move him out and bring in 2 pullets in his place for eggs.

Okay I have a question. My daughter wants to show our rumpless araucana roo at a fair this year and it requires a blood test for AI and pullorum. Where do I go to get this done and how much is that going to cost? I live in Adams County near Gettysburg, PA. Thanks

If anyone knows of anyone selling pullets or young laying hens in Lancaster County, let me know.
I'm looking to add 2 more brown egg layers to my flock.
I've already been checking Craigslist for the past few months and I'm not having much luck.

If you go with the scented geraniums, be aware there are lots of difference scents, make sure you get a citronella one, it should smell lemony.

How about one of those "bug zappers", hang it over the run and take the bottom off so the flock can enjoy some barbecued bugs! IDK if they are effective for mosquitoes, or just moths, but entertaining nonetheless.

If you want to really do bug control right, build a bat house and see if you can get a colony of bats close by. They are they world's most effective biological control of night flying insects, and they are in decline in many places, so you'd be doing good all around. This is a bit more "long term", of course.

Thanks for the heads up! We keep thinking about putting a bat box up but I don't have any good thick trees, and a very small yard. I have only seen one bat out front this year, when we moved in 6 years ago there were always several out in the evenings. I hope the bat disease they've been talking about for years now hasn't taken too hard of a toll on my local guys!!

I'm not an expert, but I'm planning to make and install one of the "real soon now". I did some research and is seemed like an exposed south-facing location was best, the hotter the better. I don't think thick foliage is ideal for them. You should do you own reading though, my memory might be a bit off.
