Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I know in Ohio you need to ask the owner's permission to take something from their trash. Most people tell you to take whatever you want since they are throwing it out anyway. Not sure of PA's laws, but asking never hurts if you are in doubt. Once the owner gives permission there's no need to worry about breaking any laws.

We always leave big stuff out and people take it. In my neck of the woods, if it's out where a garbage can would be, its fair game. Sometimes people put signs on things that say 'Free' or 'Take me'

Is it legal to take trash that has been put curbside, what about in a dumpster....
I have been going every Sunday night to check on my mother and it seems that her neighborhood is very wasteful and trashy very good stuff...I do not want to end up with a ticket over a trash pile.

Tried looking it up and all I found was about private property, where does the private line stop and start.

Think of the things we could build out of someone's trash....I am not above climbing in the dumpster for an item that looks good.

I believe trash is legal to take. I'm guessing which house (s) you mean. They aren't farms.

Pretty sure the bet tips are OK for chickens, they are for rabbits. A preferred test, even, although carrot tops and dandelion are popular, too.

"Free" signs by the road are popular here, as well. My brother from NC was shocked s few years ago when I was cleaning out my mother's house how much I was able to dispose of that way.

A little upset that I left my guard down and lost a few to a predator, including the Baby duck from a couple days ago...
Game camera caught it, but since the laptop does not work, I can only view the camera card on my cad reader...what is about knee high, a light colored brown, with darker spots on it, almost looked like a small dog, it struck just at daybreak, and hopped the fence like it wasn't even there...it looks like the hyena from the old cartoons....

Also am in the process of changing over feed for the layers, they are still getting one container of the usual ferment, and a second container of just fermented grain, they seem to be eating both and not picking anything out.

Im so sorry to hear. Im interested in what critter it was that got to your birds. wonder if it was an exotic cat that someone let go in the wild. Cats have no issue hopping fences. If you need anything Im in neffsville area. I have a live trap.

It seems that around here, if it's on the curb, it's free to a good home. It never hurts to ask if there is any doubt. We got an Awesome faux leather storage ottoman from our neighbors (after asking, because it was in such nice condition). It only needed a screw or two and to empty out all the crumbs and toy remnants from the kids. I bet that mom wondered where that shoe went... Haha. It looked like Dad chucked it out on the curb before Mom had a chance to clean it out.

I am always stopping and grabbing 2 x 4s and plywood curbside. I never considered that it might be against the law, I feel like I'm doing a public service by emptying the landfill. The trick with dumpster diving is getting back out. Just sayin.

I'm so glad I'm in good company here. And it's more fun in my opinion to call it trash picking than "Upcycling" lol.

Hate to see the consequences, but I hope it comes back just so I have a chance o get a better pic, the ground is dry instead of muddy, so no prints that I can find...
My brother thought it looked like a gray fox, didn't think we had them local. I am on the outskirts of mount joy, going towards land is ville, so we do have some wooded area's nearby.

We have fox here. Im a few blocks from Lancaster airport. Lots of wooded area here. Tons of hawks. I got into a turf war against a hawk two days ago. It was screaming at me and I was yelling right back while standing over my day old chicks. I was ready to take one for the team.
Hope you catch him. Or scare him a bit with a pellet gun. Wont kill him just a warning ya know.
