Lol!
I mean, I am concerned about all the hornets that make nests in my porch. I don't want the hot sun to scald my plants if I don't water them six times a day. And I don't want all the fleas from the neighbors cats and dogs to make their way into my yard. The dog is protected, but fleas love eating baby girls that play in the grass.
That kind of worry!

A small price to pay for not having to play "slip and slide" all the way to the coops.

I'm worried about stink bug swarms for sure... Last winter helped in that regard and I'm not looking forward to the kinds of swarms we had the year before, or worse if they don't die off with a good, extended freeze. I worry about my garden since I don't use pesticides, but mostly I'm dreading swarms of stink bugs in my kitchen. Blech!

In other news... the dog that ripped into our runs last fall came back while I was away this weekend. Hubs was at work but the neighbor saw it (and a 4 legged brown friend) in our back yard and chased them off. He apparently slugged one with a stick to make it go away. Too late for our animals though, it killed Adele (one of our 2 remaining Delawares) and one of our australorps is missing. Clover, mama rabbit, is missing too. I'm hopeful she might be out there hiding somewhere though, she can be pretty fierce but there were two dogs. All 5 babies were still accounted for in the cage (and they are off of milk so they'll be okay without her). If nothing else, I'm sure she fought to protect her babies and she succeeded in doing that :(

I'm about ready to run electric fencing around my yard, to hell with the kids playing in the yard, they'll learn to not touch the fence, lol.

I did actually see some 6'x6' chainlink panels for sale on my local BST fb page today - 11 panels for $125. I responded but I'm not sure how I'll actually get them to my house. The guy is only 5 minutes away, but the panels won't fit in my van. I called and left a message to see if he could transport them, but someone else replied on the thread after me so I'm afraid he may skip me and go to the next guy if it's less work for him.

It's horrible that someone let their dog did this to you. I hope you can find the owners and sue them.

11 panels for $125 is a really good price. Can you rent a U-haul to get the panels?

Hey!! I know that dance, been doing it myself. I always bring my phone, just in case I go down and can't get back up. I just know I'm going to fall and break a hip out there some day. Oh Lord, please don't let me go out that way. :sick

Welcoming the very first F4 Welbar chicks into the world! Baby pics (little girl on the left, little boy on the right)
They're adorable!m congrats, the auto sexing is really clear!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/content/type/61/id/7226625/"] These lil buggers hatched yesterday. Chick glamor shots......just don't tell my wife I out them on the counter.
So cute! Of course we won't tell!
Why would I worry about the summer? If I has extra bugs that just means I get more chickens to eat the bugs. Sounds like a win win to me.
I like your thinking!

Sounds like you need some Guineas to help out with the bugs... :smack

Sos sorry, I hope you find seeming to help! Even though I'm done living in suburbia, I'm so thankful for my complete chain link fence!

The first big hatch of the year went into lockdown this morning - 138 eggs
70 of them are Legbars

In other news, I've been working on the website. I now have a blog and an email list to send out a list of what hatched each week and is currently for sale.
I appreciate feedback and ideas.

Wow, that will be a huge number of chicks!

Will you link these chicken pictures on bottom of the page to the instructions on your old website? Those instructions have much more details and pictures. I started to know your birds from there. And of course, you know there is info about some birds (BF, Welbar, etc.) missing.

I cannot really see the link to weekly email registration when the Firefox window is not full screen.
